This pearl necklace is pretty, but not quite what I would expect based on the listing. These are freshwater cultured pearls which at their best rating and shape will be near round and slightly less lustrous than a saltwater pearl. These are real freshwater pearls and you can rub them against each other or your teeth and hear or feel their grittiness to know that and make sure.These specific pearls were marketed as AAA with a near-round shape. They were however all very oval, not a button shape, but what many people would refer to as "potato" shaped. Technically speaking if these were graded on the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) scale they would still call these off-round, but I feel that doesn't accurately convey the oval nature of their shape. The images on this listing show near round pearls and that's not what I got. The images also appear far more lustrous than what I would say my pearls are as well. Their reflective quality is muted and without looking much more closely at the I would say these are either on the high end of a AA GIA rating or barely passing for a AAA. Most of the pearls are clear of blemishing that's visible to the naked eye from a foot away, though some of them have lite blemishes. I didn't look at them under a jewler's loupe to determine if there's any additional blemishing.The pearls on this necklace are all nice looking pearls individually but they are not nearly as well matched as I would expect at this price range. While a few pearls on the strand were actually near round others had varying degrees of shapes between that and an oval and most were noticeably ovals. In addition, their color while all in the white to off-white range were not well matched with some being a very silvery white to some being more of a warm eggshell white. The sizes were all consistently in the 6.0-6.5 mm range when I compared them to my sizing card, but especially with the oval potato shape, looks visually like they have a lot more size variation. While not mentioned in the listing, these are individually knotted, but the knots are very small, smaller than I usually see in pearl necklaces and this means some of the pearls can actually touch each other which can mean additional wear when they rub against each other.The listing says this is 18 inches but mine measured barely 17" if I included the clasp in the length. It was shorter than advertised. This length is not enough to leave much of a tail like what's shown in the product image. In fact, on a dainty adult neck you might be able to have 4 pearls hanging through the clasp if you wear it tightly. On an average woman's neck you will most likely be lucky to clasp it over the end pearl and hopefully not have to wear it too tightly like a choker and that's if it actually was 18" of pearls not including the clasp. As such, I wouldn't recommend this sizing for an adult it would be best suited to a child probably 8-13 years old. The bow clasp also comes across to me as childish in appearance so that seems like it would be best suited for a younger recipient as well. The clasp itself is easy to open and close and seems relatively sturdy, the pearls all seem to be the right size so that they do not slip through the catch.I'm not sure these are accurately priced, in my opinion, based on their inconsistencies with the listing. If it had been as listed the pricing would be appropriate.

These pearls are very pretty. They are evenly sized, smooth and lustrous. The butterfly clasp is unique. The necklace is lightweight and comfortable. Beautifully boxed they come with care instructions and a polishing cloth.

This pearl necklace is very nice. I think it is a good deal for a pearl necklace. They shine and are pretty round. It looks pretty. It would make a nice gift for someone. The quality seemed fine. The fit was good. It was packages well and the condition was good. It would go with something fancy or simple - it is versatile. Likewise it would work for someone younger or older. I would recommend it.

The media could not be loaded.  These are heavy and very nice! I so excited to open these and see/feel the quality. I was very impressed! The only catch… they aren’t quite as long as they appear.
