keyaki wood

About Keyaki wood

Keyaki is mainly native to East Asia, including Japan, China, and the Korean Peninsula.

As the zelkova grows large, its branches and leaves separate into beautiful fan-like shapes, giving it a beautiful shape.

It is a tree that has been loved in Japan for a long time because it changes its expression according to the changing seasons of Japan.

Keyaki's most important feature is its extremely strong durability.

The heartwood is particularly resistant to abrasion and exhibits excellent durability even when subjected to large impacts and friction, so it is not uncommon to find zelkova wood used in historic shrines and temples.

Keyaki wood is also a wood that can be enjoyed as it changes over time.

Some wood is reddish while others are whitish, but as the years pass, the color becomes darker and you can enjoy the texture of a deep orange with a taste.
