What is Sterling Silver?

Sterling Silver is made of 92.5% parts pure silver and 7.5% parts other metal alloys (usually copper). The alloys are added to increase the hardness and durability of the metal so that it can be worn in every day jewelry. Sterling Silver is often plated with other metals to keep it from tarnishing (a natural reaction of the silver turning black over a period of time after being exposed to oxygen). White plating is usually done with Rhodium, a metal in the Platinum family. Yellow plating is usually done with yellow gold. Rose plating is usually done with rose gold. Sometimes silver can be plated with a clear liquid, called e-coat, that allows the silver metal color to show but seals it off from oxidation. Because it is one of the softer precious metals, care should be taken not to apply excessive force to silver jewelry so that your lovely item doesn't bend out of shape.

  • To preserve the finish of your Willowbird Accessories, we do not recommend liquid exposure of any type including but not limited to: Sweat, Shower, Pool, Washing dishes, etc
  • If cleaning is necessary, please use a very soft cloth to remove any dust and dirt that has accumulated.
  • Many Willowbird styles are made of oxidized sterling silver. Oxidation shows as a blackened accent in the engraved details of the metal and is an intentional design element. To preserve this finish, avoid excessive rubbing or over cleaning of the metal.

These earrings are beautiful! I Had been anxious to get them, and wasn’t disappointed. Expertly made of quality material, they fit very comfortably, and look amazing on! They are high polished ( which I love), and look great, hair up, or down! The price was very reasonable, and they arrived in a timely manner! They match a few of my chains, and necklaces, so I have “ new” sets in my jewelry wardrobe! I recommend these earrings highly!

Loved these earrings. Was worried they would look cheap . I absolutely love them. Not the least bit cheap looking at all. I have had many compliments on them. They look just as picture shown on ad and a nice little black pouch to store them in. Ladies you won't be disappointed in these earrings. I have had mine a few months now and they still shine. No change of color. Super glad I bought them. I'm picky about my jewelry like probably most women. I don't want something that dulls or turns that nasty green. These really are lovely earrings. I will likely buy from this brand again in the future.

These earrings are shiny, nicely detailed, lightweight, and the clasp is secure and easy to use. My only gripe is that they're a tad wide. But with the .925 stamp, hopefully this means they really are all silver and not silver-plated alloy. If so and they don't turn in a few months, I'll be a satisfied buyer. Size is a little under the diameter of a quarter.

This is for myself. It was a nice surprise to see these were larger than a huggie ! Yet, lightweight since the sterling silver is hollow. The black antique around the bumps really shows up.I would purchase this brand again.

When I ordered these earrrings I was not sure I would like them. The end result is I love them. They are not heavy and the clasp is strong and does not easily unhook while wearing. This is important to me in earrings. I have lost various earrings due to this problem.
