I think the salient points have been covered before--this is a long mala, with each ox bone bead carved in the simple representation of a skull. There is a distinct 'barbecue' smell that has, on my mala, faded to almost nothing over several weeks of wearing and saying the mala. I do want to point out that this is a very long string--the irregular shape of the skulls makes the beads more oblong than round, as you find with sandalwood or other round bead malas. Mine is about 43" long, and on a 6' 2" body the mala's bottom-most skull hangs just two inches above my navel. Also, if you're like me and prefer to wear your mala wound around your wrist, keep in mind that the string used for this specific mala isn't elastic, so unless you get very lucky you may not get a snug fit. In my case, the length allows three comfortable loops and one very large one, and due to the nature of the bone skulls sliding around, I often find I have three snug loops and one VERY large one, so it's not a perfect fit for my thicker wrists. Lastly, and this is going to be a men-only issue, but I find that the little crevices and heavy weight of the beads tends to trap chest hair once in a while, so if you are hirsute and wear your mala under your shirt, against your skin, expect the occasional pull!

I like it but this mala, but is definitely not the one advertised. It has considerable detail in back and the shapes of all skulls are very different from the one in their product picture.
