The Lotus, a water lily, is the flower customarily associated with ancient Egyptian culture. The blue lotus was the emblem of the god Nefertum of Memphis, lord of perfume. It would open in the morning and close at dusk, signifying regeneration and rebirth. The white water lily, with its pungent smell, was not as popular as the blue variety, which possessed a more delicate fragrance. Both varieties could be found in calm waterways or pools. Gold was believed to reflect the life-giving rays of the sun. The color and brilliance of gemstones traditionally determined their value and religious significance.

I really loved these earrings as they reminded me of pendulum earrings in the overall shape and design. I was a little surprised by the red beads as they look more deep red like a blood red but in actuality more of a cranberry red instead. I was surprise with how light weight they are too but look really chunky - awesome. The craftsmanship was very unique and ancient egyptian inspired. Love it.
