The Explorer (1) is one of Rolexes best watches. If I win the lottery, it will go on the purchase list. Until then, this Watchdives is a great substitute. I’m a woman with a 7” wrist and this fits comfortably. When I hold it in my hand I can feel the weight but once it’s on, I don’t notice it. I’ve often gone to bed wearing it because I don’t remember it’s there. But I smile every time I look at it.

For what you pay, you get an awesome watch. Perfect size, very legible, a nice clean dial with no date. Awesome BGW lume, the only downside is the bracelet, it pulls hair and has some sharp edges. If the worked on the bracelet a little, this would be a perfect package. I put mine on a silicone Barton strap and it’s perfect.

I collect watches, not super high-dollar peices, just stuff I like. Of my 12 or so watches their values range between $75 and $1500. I'll probably end up getting a Tudor or old Rolex someday, but in the meantime there are some really cheap, and really unbelievably high quality homage peices coming from brands like Watchdives that are really, genuinely nice peices. I've wanted a 36mm Explorer style watch forever, and short of an actual $6000+ vintage peice, I'd tried several times for a Smith's version ($600+) to no avail. This Watchdives peice is great. Lume is great, case finishing is great, bracelet is good but some sharpness on the clasp. But overall maybe my favorite watch at the moment, and it was only 80 bucks.

... The bracelet is oversized - Big! My wrist is a male regular fit. The bracelet is at the jeweler's to remove links, time, and $$$ cost, more than the cost of the watch.

Just got this watch today , what a great watch . Movement is such a great choice, near sweeping second hand is a great benefit. Finishing is excellent. Great strap tools included which was amazing at this price point . Case, dial, lume, motor - all these are very nice. The other reviewers have it right; for the money there is not much to complete with it. I chose this over the sapphire glass alternatives because of the clean dial here but I, too, would have paid an extra $20-30 for sapphire. The 19mm lug width works fine for me, since I put on a nice Barton Elite 19/18 strap that gives a good look with good comfort. (I don't care much for bracelets so I didn't even try it on.)

The Watchdives Ranger homage is a nice watch, very well made and the case fit and finish seem to be at the same level as San Martin. The VH31 Seiko hybrid quartz movement is a great compromise for a person who likes the accuracy of quartz, the "put it on and go" and the aesthetics of a mechanical automatic with its sweep second hand. The value is impeccable!
