Buyers should be aware that there are sellers in the world selling "created" emeralds, rubies, whatever - that are actually cz. A nano anything is probably just a glorified cz. I have *no indication* that this is happening here, but if I'm spending $250 (at time of review) on a piece, I might be inclined to pay a jeweler a couple of dollars to have a quick peek to make sure it's what it's supposed to be. Again, that's not because I have any indication of problems here, but because it's just a best practice with an unknown vendor - and most vendors on this platform are indeed unknown. And also because I don't do acid testing for gold, for example. This is stamped AU585, for 14K gold, which is as it should be. It's missing a hallmark, or maker's mark, and again at this price point I'd be happier with that. The hallmark essentially makes it traceable so that the maker is responsible for that metal content forevermore, sort of like a signature, so that's generally good insurance that it is what it claims to be. Untraceable is one thing, but when your name is on it, you make sure it's not telling lies. It's not magnetic, so that doesn't give me any reason to be suspicious, but having done this for a minute, I basically wake up suspicious. Here, again, I have no reason to disbelieve the description. It's clear and unequivocal and doesn't have any of the language that would make the spidey senses tingle. They're up front about the simulated diamond (where some sellers just would leave that out of the description altogether), and the peridot being a created stone means it could well fall into this price range. (Prices that are *too* low should raise your eyebrows and put you on alert. Folks are not giving good stuff away for a song in these internet streets.) Without further testing, I can't confirm or refute anything, but all indications to my hobbyist eye (who admittedly does not deal in much peridot at all) seem to be above board. The fabrication looks good, and again there nothing to raise my hackles. It's very, VERY rare that you'll see real gold looking toddler-made, so half-done workmanship would also be a clue. Here it looks fine.I will say that the chain arrived tangled beyond all reason. This is a sort of feature of the thin, delicate chains, because they are so light they'll flip back up on themselves if you look at them wrong. It took a tray and silk pins to get the gnarls out - and if you're a fan of delicate jewelry, a tray (piece of corkboard, or similar that will hold a stick pin) and some pins are your easiest way out. If it's really bad, powder (like baby powder) can help, but I avoid that at all costs because it's a mess an a half on the bench, in the tray, on the piece, and in my face.I don't love the photo where this is photoshopped onto a person. I don't love those in general, because they're not usually helpful, and such is the case here. It's going to give you a false impression of the size, making it look FAR bigger than it actually is. For an item at this price point, they can manage to take at least one real photo with a human if that is their desire. If not, they can leave that out, or at bare, BARE minimum if they must photoshop, do it to scale.
