Design: Each design takes over 50 hours to create and get ready for production using our proprietary processes that have taken over 30 years to develop. This allows us to create a unique, original work of art, where no two are the same and to do it at a reasonable cost. These are handmade in the USA.
Wood Selection: A great deal of effort goes into selecting what woods will work for each piece of the design (grain pattern, color, orientation, variations of color and grain pattern, etc). It is not unusual for some designs to have over 20 variations of woods tested together and in combination before settling on the final wood set for a design. A label describing each wood shown comes with each design.

Nice little box. Smaller than what I thought it was going to be. Being hand made the center wood piece almost felt fake. There was zero imperfections and being hand made you think there would maybe be small gaps in areas, but there wasn’t. Even the center piece was perfect. So I’m really not sure what to think. It is what it is. A nice small box to put trinkets I guess. Overall not sure I would buy again just for the fact that the box felt mass produced and not hand made. I’m sure I’m totally wrong and whom ever made it is just really good, I just have questions in my head.

My husband bought me this as an extra Christmas Gift and it's lovely. Only problem we had is that it must have been thrown around in transit, because when I went to open one of the drawers, the entire box collapsed. However, my husband got out the glue and fixed it.

The box is very well made. My husband did inlay work in his woodworking so I recognize quality workmanship especially in this area. The Compass Rose has a lot of meaning to me so I was pleased to find this box for sale. However, I was did not look carefully enough at dimensions. It was smaller than I expected. I put a number of boxes in my Wish List but loved the design on this one so much, this is what I ordered. But the dimensions are correctly listed in the description and I just didn't read carefully enough. So I changed what I was going to use this for and am very happy with it. Fell in love with it and would never consider returning it. It holds very nicely my two Anglican rosaries and my two malas.

I buy a lot of stuff on Amazon and mostly keep quiet about the stuff I buy. I hate all the reviews that are basically bought by the seller with discounts and/or free stuff. This review is UNPAID, UNSOLICITED and ABSOLUTELY TRUSTWORTHY.I purchased the compass rose box and it is truly a piece of amazing work. I got it to present a similarly designed locket. Not sure which went over better, the box or the locket! Randy West puts his heart and soul in these boxes and it truly shows. The inlay is perfect without a single gap. No glue, no chips, no nails, and perfectly aligned grain. Hand-crafted and couldn't have asked for better.Oh, wait, did I forget to mention a followup email from the artesian? He seems genuinely interested in feedback (not just a decent review) from the buyer and that rarely happens. I will definitely keep this in my favorites list.

The box itself is well made and shows real craftsmanship, but the hinge hardware is of very poor quality for the price charged. For the price, I would have expected a piano hinge or something more substantial than what was provided. It isn't the sort of thing I would give as a gift. I returned the item. Still, the box is as pictured and described and many reviewers loved it.

This review is for both the compass rose and Celtic knot designs. The craftsmanship on these boxes is remarkable. No detail seems to have been overlooked.There is a felt material on the bottom of the box as well as the inside bottom. The hinges are seated well and there are no rough edges at all. The designs are crisp, clear and smooth. Very well done. These are boxes of art, affordable art! If you are considering these I urge you to go ahead and be extremely satisfied with your purchase.
