Since the product description didn't specify what type of boning was used in this piece, I assumed it was the usual light plastic.It is not. It is light metal, meaning it's flexible and adjustable to suit whatever your Victorian neck wrap needs might be that day. Up To Your Ears Tuesday? Check. Fanned Out Over Your Shoulders Friday? Covered. If those ever become actual days, you are set.The fabric is softer than I thought it would be. The lace is cleanly attached and not showing any signs of fraying anywhere. My only very minor quibble is the ties are satin ribbon but the fabric of the center band is a cotton twill, I would have preferred one fabric or the other for both of those applications.But that is a very minor quibble, and not anything that will stop me from wearing this probably far more often than is strictly appropriate.
