This is a very pretty necklace and doesn't look cheap. The chain is very thin and delicate, so you definitely need to be careful with it. It comes in a nice box that lights up when opened. If you are presenting the card with it, you'll need to prepare it beforehand so the necklace is taken out of the little plastic baggies and placed appropriately in the box with the card. That being said, the sentiment on the card is nice but it's rather cheesy. I suggest removing the card entirely and putting a truly heartfelt note in there, rather than something addressed to a generic "wife."I'm not big on wearing expensive jewelry because of theft and loss - if something is lost or stolen and it was purely decorative, my heart won't be broken. This necklace does the job for me - it can be worn for casual or even semi-formal occasions, but I won't worry about it if it gets taken or lost.
