The description says that this necklace is made of lava stones but it is not. This necklace is made of some artificial composite painted with white paint that does not look or feel like volcanic stone. The chain that they use has several links to adjust its length which is nice. Aside from the material not being as described, the necklace is actually comfortable to wear and you would not know the difference between actual volcanic rock or this unless you closely inspect it.

This is like a great inexpensive version of the popular Puka Shell chokers of the '70s. There isn't anymore on the shores of Hawaii so this chipped shell version comes close to achieving the feel of that time. Wish I had kept my choker from High School. Choker looks good but be careful as unlike the original puka shells these aren't as hard so possibly could crack or chip more. Normal use and care should be fine to avoid possible damage.

We had taken our grand daughter to Hawaii twice pre-pandemic. We gave this necklace to her for Christmas as a reminder of the trips and a hope for more in the future. She loved the memory of the islands and has worn the puka shells and lava constantly. It was a good choice.
