I received this necklace / pendant jewelry box yesterday and am very pleased with it. The wood grain is very attractive. The wood is not heavily varnished ( I think that is the term), so the wood does not have a shiny overall finish, but more of a natural look. Construction wise, the box is smooth and also sturdy. The top is held quite securely in place when closed via 4 small magnets (two on the top and two on the bottom) installed within the wood on the front corners of the box. It is hinged in two spots along the back side of the box, and the hinges work smoothly. The inside has been finished off with black velvet material, and it has a removable holder cut with two small slots to secure a chain. That holder piece is very nicely done, and is a better quality than what is seen in many necklace jewelry boxes today. I also like the size of this necklace box, as it is not so large to make it hard to store it, but is also not so small as to allow a chain to tangle easily even when stored in its own jewelry box. That being said, this necklace box could still be too small for the thickest of chains if they were long too, or for a full strand of pearls, but for most necklaces, it would be a fine size wise, and it will make a lovely overall presentation if gifting a piece of jewelry to someone. I was searching high and low for a presentation box for a pocket watch I purchased for my son for his high school graduation. Everything I found was either way out of my price range, or cheap and cheesy looking. I happened to luck into spotting this necklace box and the dimensions looked like they might work. It is absolutely perfect for my needs. It is sleek and classy looking and very well made.The box comes with an insert specifically for necklaces, which would work very well if that is what you are planning to use the box for. I had no use for this insert so I removed it. Using air dry clay and black spandex type material I had on hand I was able to fashion a custom insert that will keep the pocket watch somewhat securely in place and makes for an attractive presentation. This method could be used with air dry clay and any fabric you choose to make custom inserts for any item you wish, as long as it fits in the box.The box stays closed pretty well, thanks to the small magnets in each corner. I would recommend an outer protective bag if traveling with it, just to prevent the contents from accidently dumping out. The hinge functions very smoothly and holds the lid of the box open as it should. The velvet lining is very well done. The outer wood finish is very smooth and attractive. It is just a wonderful box for gifting and protecting a special keepsake. I highly recommend it at this price point.

This is a wooden jewelry box that claims to be made of walnut wood. It is very nice, sanded smooth with no rough edges. The inside is lined with velvet and has a removable insert for a necklace. It closes with what looks like rare earth magnets that are inset into the wood; there are four of them in the two front corners. The hinges open smoothly, it closes securely, and looks really good.It has a really strong smell of wood stain on the interior (or maybe it's glue? Not certain). I do question if it's actually walnut wood though. The box is VERY light, and I was able to indent the wood with my fingernail. It's definitely not pine, but might be basswood stained a walnut color. Again not certain, it's just much lighter than I would expect walnut wood to be.

This is a velvet lined, unfinished walnut jewelry case designed to protect and display necklaces in an elegant manner.The box is roughly 4"x4"x1.5" and should hold most small necklaces. The velvet lined foam inside folds out and allows for several ways to secure and display various jewelry inside, while also protecting the jewelry from scratching. The closure is magnetic and holds together solidly.The build quality is excellent when comparing to similar products in this price point- Real walnut was used and expertly cut, sanded, and crafted. High attention to detail is shown throughout the piece, specifically in regards to the alignment of hinges, uniformity and continuity of the wood grain and texture, the tolerances of routed cuts for magnets, and the lining. This is a beautiful piece with emphasis on the aesthetic and craftsmanship that makes this stand apart from other products that appear to just be mass produced.One thing that may be a deal breaker for some is that this wood is unfinished, with no sign of any stain, oil, wax, lacquer, varnish, or similar product being used. This was not an issue for me and I can choose to finish this piece if necessary or desired in the future. I personally prefer the look of the raw material however.I used this box to store my lapel pins for my suits, and it fits most of the pins I own comfortably, although I have to keep them inside at a slight angle for them to fit. This is a perfect solution for storing these, despite the case being designed for necklaces. I'm very happy with this product. Highly recommended for anyone in need of this specific style of jewelry storage.
