Honest review. The strap is probably the only issue I've had with this watch. I'm a slightly smaller individual and that required cutting the chain links to accommodate my wrist size.With negatives out of the way let's move onto the positives! The locking mechanism on the strap gives a nice positive contact with no room for wobble, once fitted, the watch feels fantastic, despite its size and weight, I will say that I skipped over reading dimensions so was a little surprised by how small it is, but as I said before, I'm a smaller individual so it feels perfect! Starting the watch is simple with the 3 position crown, simple unscrew the crown and start winding. ***CAUTION*** like all mechanical devices that are wound, you can over tension the mechanism causing it to break down, so give it 5 to 8 full rotations and you should be good to go. This model is an auto winding mechanism so it does not require winding like some of the other models (ever 24-36 hrs). Setting the date is fun, simply rotate the hour hand between 8 and 12 (more like 2000-0000) to cause the date dial to jump to the next day. While the watch is rated for 20bar I strongly caution the wearer to ensure the crown is set tightly to position 1 to ensure the gasket is locked air tight.All in all this is a fantastic little watch for the price.***Side Note*** the dial glows quite bright and you'll notice a slight curve in the minute hand, this is not damage, I believe this allows the wearer to view an accurate time under water (though I might be wrong).

This is my second vostok so I am already familiar with the quirks and features. Quality can be hit or miss with Vostoks. The first one of this particular model I ordered the hands were misaligned...the hour hand didn't align with the numbers on the dial until quarter after the hour. I returned it and the one I have now is perfectly aligned. BUT, it does have a speck of dust sitting on the dial, inside the case. So I'll have to open the case back and remove the movement to get the speck out (not too hard). A Seiko wouldn't have this issue, but a Seiko doesn't look as cool as a Vostok :)In terms of accuracy, after one week mine is running exactly 100% on time, hasn't lost or gained a single second--net zero. It tends to run a couple seconds slow as I wear it, then gains a couple seconds at night. I owned one other Vostok for almost 2 years and it also ran perfect when I first bought it. After a few months it suddenly started running very fast (30-40 seconds a day) and I had to regulate it, at which point it ran perfectly onwards. So, after a week it's a little early to tell if the accuracy of this one will stay spot on (probably not), but out of the box, it's incredibly accurate for an automatic that cost less than $100.I really like the lines and shape of the case. Very throw-back and classic looking. Black dial goes with everything; easy to change out straps. I swapped out the bezel as well (for a seiko look-alike), although the standard one that came with it is not that bad looking. In case anyone's wondering, the bezel IS STAINLESS STEEL (not chromed brass), so if you want to put a brush finish on it, you can do so readily (I did).

Let’s start with the negatives. The worst part was the buckle on the stock strap; the prong was to short and didn’t reach the frame (basically it didn’t work). The stock bezel is somewhat ugly and not too useful. No hacking of the second hand. No quick date setting.The good; it’s easy to mod your self and I swapped the bezel for one to my liking. Very comfortable on my 6.5 inch wrist. Looks awesome with my homemade leather strap. Back hacking is possible when it’s not fully wound.On my time grapher it’s beat error was 0 to 0.2 ms and ran 10-30 seconds per day fast (depending on watch position). I slowed it down so now it’s running 0-20 seconds per day fast.Even though I own a few fancier watches; this one finds itself on my wrist more than the others. Good quality for the price and a unique style and look.

The hand fell off in one day and I had to return the product. Because this watch is so cool, I did a return and replace. I hope the second watch works.The replacement watch was received. Within 18 months the dial fogged badly and the date function did not work.This Russian made watch is one of the worst products I ever purchased. It will break and be a total loss within 18 months. In the case of the first watch, it arrived broken. That is why Made in USA is important. It is also why Swiss watches are the best.

I ordered my Voskok Amphibia on May 29 and received it on June 3, so much for waiting two months to get a Vostok like I have read from others. This watch is all that others have said, it seems durable, well designed and attractive. I have a small watch collection but have had the most compliments on my Vostok. A great casual watch with an interesting history from the Cold War. I have not had it long enough to really evaluate but so far it is fun to wear.
