The rainbow, blue, and gold plating is a hypoallergenic PVD plating over 316L surgical stainless steel, titanium, or tungsten. The hypoallergenic plating will hold up as well as anything that is plated. Pool and salt water will not make it change but harsh chemicals can affect the plating. You should always wear gloves or remove your rings when dealing with harsh chemicals. It's mainly friction from daily wear that would cause the plating to get scratched. When you wear any plated jewelry piece alongside others, it could be susceptible to scratching, just like any gold-plated jewelry piece.

It is smaller then I expected, wich is a good thing in my opinion it makes it more feminine. I didn't use the cord it came with I used a ball chain that I had already to be safe. I can see wearing this for many years.

Necklace is very pretty. But the "chain" fell apart after wearing for a few hours. Adjustable slip knots were used to secure the necklace and one side came apart very quickly.

The pendant is exactly as pictured and cute. Perfect size. However the necklace string is so flimsy it broke within 5 minutes of wearing it. I recommend buying actual chains for it.
