Hydro Gemstones

HYDROTHERMAL GEMSTONES

A brief on what lab created hydrothermal gemstones are

Hydro

What are Hydrothermal Gemstones:

Hydrothermal gemstones are synthetic gemstones created in a laboratory using a process that mimics the conditions found in natural hydrothermal environments. These environments involve high temperatures and pressures that facilitate the growth of crystals. Hydrothermal gemstones are made by dissolving the necessary chemical components in a superheated water solution, which is then allowed to cool and crystallize. The resulting gemstones can have the same physical and chemical properties as natural gemstones, but are often more affordable due to their synthetic nature. Some popular hydrothermal gemstones include aquamarine, ruby, and emerald.

How was Hydrothermal Gemstone created:

A fun fact about hydrothermal gemstones is that they were actually first created by accident in the late 1800s. A French chemist named Auguste Verneuil was trying to create synthetic rubies using a flame fusion method, but instead discovered hydrothermal growth when he accidentally dropped a ruby seed crystal into a hydrothermal solution. This led to the development of the hydrothermal growth process, which is now commonly used to create a variety of synthetic gemstones.

How Popular are Hydrothermal Gemstones:

Hydrothermal gemstones are quite popular and widely used in the jewelry industry. They offer a more affordable alternative to natural gemstones, while still retaining the same physical and chemical properties. Hydrothermal gemstones are often difficult to distinguish from natural gemstones, and as a result, they are a popular choice for jewelry designers who want to offer high-quality gems at a more affordable point. Some popular hydrothermal gemstones include aquamarine, emerald, ruby, sapphire, and quartz. However, it's important to note that natural gemstones are still highly prized and sought after, especially for their rarity and uniqueness.

Why Choose Hydrothermal Gemstones:

Hydrothermal gemstones are identical to Natural gemstones when it comes to their physical properties. They look and feel the same and cost a fraction of the amount that their natural counterparts cost. Not only this but they come in much larger sizes than the natural gemstones. A 10+ Carat Hydrothermal gemstone is much easier to find than a Natural gemstone of the same carat weight. Recently Lab Grown Diamonds have gained popularity for various reasons and with them hydrothermal gemstones have gained popularity as well. Their cost

5 Different Shape Violet Amethyst Gemstones

Not dissapointed. Whether is a real amethyst or glass not important to me. They are perfect with no blemishes. These are perfect for beaded bezels bcz they are not small. If you are into beading. I recommend this store. Ive bought others & never disappointed!!! Good packaging also.

Michael Dixon
They do not appear to be natural stones and they are scratched up. I did receive 6 instead of the 5 advertised. I can't use these for anything considering the bad condition they are in. I'll possibly give them to my 8 year old niece to play with. They look like colored glass to me but they could just be colored quartz or color enhanced. Don't waste your money. You can't use these to make jewelry. They are cut poorly and all chipped or scratched.

Debbie Davis
Well cut gems. Love the deep violet color, and the high polish.

So these are really nice looking "stones". The color I got is mostly the deep amethyst that I love. However, they looked too perfect, which would make them really expensive amethysts or glass. Generally, amethyst is fairly inexpensive but that is for imperfect stones. There should be flaws at this price for this deep of a color.I tested them with the Mohs test kit and found the 6 scratches them. Quartz, of which amethyst is the purple version, is a 7 hardness. Glass is a 5. So if it were real amethyst, the 6 couldn't scratch it. Unfortunately, it scratched. As, based on the price, I figured it was likely not real amethyst, I wasn't too disappointed They still are pretty and are cut nicely. These are great for when you are learning to make jewelry and don't want to mess up with good stones.

Still shopping for bezels, hope to embue them with healing frequencies and wear them as health support.

Bradley Porter MD
Amethyst does not glow under UV light. These are fluorite gems purposefully being misrepresented and marketed as amethyst. Fluorite is very soft and easily scratched or otherwise damaged, and if you're buying these to make jewelry you will be sorely disappointed- or your client will. Save your money and buy genuine stones from a reputable dealer elsewhere. I hope this helps!

Edwin Carlson
I only got 55 carats. Still 5 stones. But not 70 carats. And it definitely is not certified by a gemologist. It's not amethyst, it's not glass, and it's not fluorite. It's a manmade stone grown in a laboratory. Imperfect cuts, typically these come from lapidary schools teaching people how to facet. They're done by students, so you'll see differences even from stone to stone. Wouldn't be bad for the price if they'dake the weight more accurate.
