Inside the bubble wrap, there is a card talking about the company's beginnings and some of the manufacturer’s musings. The card is printed in a light lavender color to match the box, but for these older eyes, it made it very difficult to read the print. The matching lavender is very stylish, but I would suggest printing the actual message in a darker color.The box that holds the necklace itself is a well-made cardboard box with a magnetic closure. Inside the box, there is a cloth drawstring bag that has the necklace inside that, in a press-and-seal heavy plastic pouch. Inside the pouch, there is another press-and-seal plastic bag that holds the necklace wrapped yet again inside another plastic press and seal bag. They really like these plastic bags! This last inner bag took a little doing to get off because they have another layer of some kind of very sticky plastic around the medallion itself. That seems to be some kind of stick-and-cling plastic. I'm trying to be very careful in taking this off because I don't want to damage the very delicate chain that the necklace is hung upon after a moment or two of fiddling, it appears that there are two of these press-and-seal plastic bags, one for the larger medallion and one for the smaller medallion. They've gone to some pretty extreme lengths to protect this in shipping, but by not leaving you an easy way to open it, I'm having a good bit of frustration trying to get this off without damaging the necklace. Is that a girl? I'm sure that they did all this extra protection to help protect the 18-karat gold plating during shipping, but this is quite frustrating to get off of the product. I think they seriously need to reconsider their manner of wrapping this or perhaps leave a tab to pull to unwrap the final batch of plastic. After passing it off to another family member, when I became frustrated with the removal of the plastic, she managed to get it off, and then we proceeded to attempt to untangle the necklace. The chains that come with this are very fine. It's difficult to sort the chains out so that both of the designs will face forward. Once you've achieved that, the necklace looks like it should go on fairly easily, (Not really) via the circle clasp on the back. There are three positions you can hook the clasp into, effectively lengthening the necklace up to another 3 in if necessary. The designs on the medallions do stand out and are easily visible once you have the necklace sorted out. Trying to put the necklace on, it took her several tries fighting with the tiny clasp. I would suggest a redesign of the clasp as well, perhaps into a lobster claw type or something similar to make it easier to put the necklace on.Once she had it on, the gold, medallions are quite bright and shiny, especially standing out against a darker fabric. She says that it is a light feeling and not that heavy at all.
