Manufacturers usually make the hole size of a standard charm larger than 3.5mm. This is because this is to make sure the charm can pass through the head of a charm bracelet, and that creates a problem -- the charm may move around on the bracelet. To secure a charm to a position on the bracelet you desire you may use a stopper. A stopper is a functional charm that lock charms in position on a bracelet. It is usually made with a rubber inlet that holds onto the bracelet very well and can extend from 2mm to 4.5mm. Not every charm bracelets can use a stopper with a rubber inlet. If your bracelet has knobs, then those stoppers with a rubber inlet are not suitable for the bracelet. Instead, a stopper of clasp-type should be used in this case. Another type of stoppers is a stopper with a safety chain, of which the main purpose to prevent charms from falling off when the bracelet is being taken off.
