These are tiny and delicate earrings, so don’t be surprised at their size. They’re beautiful. I’m a teacher, and our campus did a program a few years ago based on the story of the man on the beach that others saw tossing the hundreds of starfish back into the sea. When they commented to him that he could never save them all, he replied, “Yes, but it matters to this one.” We chose at-risk students on campus that we had a good relationship with, and mentored them to help them achieve better grades, better outlook on life, etc. I grew to love all of my “starfish” and they still stay in touch with me. I bought these earrings and the matching necklace as a reminder of them and how important it is that we remember to look out for those we can help despite the overwhelming needs that surround us. It will matter to those we can connect with.
