The front of the cross is more finely crafted than can probably be discerned from the listing's image. One solid surface. I show the back because I always wish that image were available. It is less polished than the front, smooth and recessed. No rough places anywhere. The cross is thin, but thick enough to not easily bend--just right for women. Mine, excluding the bail, measures just over 3/4 inch.Very evenly spaced, nothing crooked. I could not be more pleased.

I was terribly disappointed with the cross. It was paper thin and too small, it was shiny only on one side and did not show the silver content. I did not return because it was too late to get another one as this was to be a gift May 16.
