The beautiful, delicate chain and pendant are sterling silver. The authenticity is located on the back of the pendant.The one I ordered is the month of January, the Garnet stone. The largest stone, 1/8 inch in diameter, is close to a red garnet but has some orange in it as the two tiny stones, 1/16 inch each, are almost bright orange. I prefer the deep dark red garnet stones, not the orange ones.The description images shows the cross hanging an inch or more down from the pendant but in reality the length of the chain that is dangling the cross is not affixed to anything and therefore can be any length. I am not sure how that works but I think it has something to do with the width of the neck. The wider the neck the smaller the length of the chain that hangs the cross. I figured that to set the chain (the part that holds the cross) to the length that is desired, the chain can be wrapped around the curve of the pendant. It is more sturdy in its position and less likely to hide the cross in the stethoscope.
