I purchased this to hold some remains of my husband's son who recently passed. I had purchased a small necklace urn from the funeral home which my husband wore daily. Imagine our dismay when we discovered that the funeral home did not seal it and somewhere it had come unscrewed and he lost it. We were devastated. Fortunately, his daughter had a small vial of ashes that she had not scattered yet. I ordered this urn cross to replace the urn that was lost. He is very pleased with it. It is beautiful. It comes with a 24" chain which seems like it would not break. But with that being said, I put the cross on a slightly heavier 25" chain which I had bought from a jewelry store previously and had been assured would be a secure chain to hold a small urn. The cross came with a cleaning cloth and a small funnel and piece to aid in putting the ashes in it. It was a simple procedure. I removed the top and lined up the funnel. I put some ashes on a small piece of paper folded in half and slowly tapped the ashes into the funnel. I then gently pushed them down the funnel into the urn with the tool enclosed with the funnel. After that, I screwed the top of the cross back on half way. Then I put a few drops of Loctite on the end of a toothpick and worked it around the exposed threads and tightened the top on the cross the remaining way. I then used a Q-tip to wipe away any excess glue that may have seeped when tightening. Let it sit for 24 hours to fully cure. Hopefully, this will ensure a secure beautiful piece he can wear daily in remembrance of his son for years. As one other review said, it is a perfect size. Not too big nor too small. It is perfect for a man who would want a slightly larger cross. But it would also be beautiful for a woman. I am glad I purchased this. One thing, I might note is that the cross is a tad heavy. So, consider that when deciding if one will use the chain that came with it or another one. The chain is beautiful though and seems to be strong enough. It has a claw clasp which is the best one to have. I recommend this Silver Urn Cross as a quality piece for ashes, etc. I would purchase this again. It is worth a few extra dollars.

My mom recently passed away and was cremated. I ordered two of these, one for my husband and one for myself. I didn't want one made from stainless steel, and when I saw these in Sterling Silver, I jumped to buy them.When they arrived each came inside a nice gift box, and inside each box was a small funnel and instrument (to facilitate adding cremains to the cross), the cross on it's chain, and a small silver polishing cloth.I examined the cross and for us it was the perfect size; not too big and not too heavy. The top section of the cross unscrewed to reveal a cavity where you can place the remains of your loved one. I do suggest to super glue the top to the cross after you've loaded the remains. Too often these items unscrew and if that happens, you lose the ash filled cross.It was a beautiful cross on a decent chain.I looked for the mark that all Sterling is required to have stamped upon it - 925 or sterling. It's hidden well. One is on the side of the cross at the bottom, and the chain is marked on the inside hook of the clasp.Note: you need a magnifier to view it
