When the headline is "925 Sterling Silver 1.14 Carat (ctw) Round Cut Lab Grown Diamond 4-Prong Twisted Engagement Rings for Women, Lab Grown Diamond and CZ Engagement Ring Promise Bridal Ring" those words clearly indicate that the piece is entirely or at least substantially composed of lab-grown diamond. That's the natural assumption a buyer will make, since the greater total percentage (or composition of the most featured element) traditionally comes first.Here what we have is about a carat of BLUE CUBIC ZIRCONIA surrounded by about .14 carats of lab diamond. Is it a lie to say that the ring is lab diamond (insert a lot of language here) and cz? No, not technically. Is it misleading? Absolutely.The band is marked 925 and the ring does not react to a magnet. The lab diamonds are too miniscule to read on a diamond pen (touching metal invalidates the reading, so past a certain size you can't get a clear answer because you're always touching metal). I would tend to think that these are lab diamonds because this listing is careful not to lie outright on something that is easily verifiable (by a jeweler who has better tools at their disposal than my little tester).Just for the record, the blue stone in the middle is absolutely not blue diamond. It tests in similar range to other known cz samples, so I'm pretty comfortable confirming that this is what we're looking at.Now, in fairness, $160 (at time of review) would be a pretty unusually low price for a carat of lab diamond, BUT/AND things happen and sometimes stones come out not as nicely as the lab would like. Just like with natural stones, some lab stones are nicer than others, and this could have been analogous to a factory second kind of situation.In my defense, $160 for a cz and .14ct of lab diamonds in sterling is highway robbery.At the end of the day, I can't recommend this until and unless the listing gets more in line with the reality of the piece.
