I bought one of these for my mother, for Mother's Day, and I needed a locket that could hold a lot. I bought 5mm birthstone hearts to put inside it, and with my parents, their children and their spouses, the grandkids and their spouses, and the great-grandkids, I needed to a locket that would hold 25 birthstones. This one holds all of them, with room left over for the addition of further great-grandkids. We live in the woods, and we both spend a lot of time outside, working in the garden, yard, or woods, so I specifically wanted a locket with a screw closure because I was worried the ones that close with a magnet might snag and come open too easily. That's far less likely to happen with a screw closure, as long as you close it tightly enough, though you might want to check it every now and then to make sure it hasn't started to come loose. Mom was wearing hers every day until one day, in a store, she discovered it had come open and the face plate and all the stones were gone. She was devastated. We managed to find the face plate and all 25 stones, but now she's afraid to wear it until she can be sure it won't happen again. I may not have had it closed tightly enough--I have arthritis in my hands, so it can be difficult to close something as small as this as tightly as necessary--so I don't count this as a design fault.
