The black SNK809 completes my Seiko SNK collection. This time I thought I would try it on the bracelet rather than on the strap like my other SNK colorways. I hated it... not the watch, the bracelet. The watch is awesome, with the black dial and black day and date rings it is elegant and understated. The bracelet tho... it is of the "folded link" type that requires a lot of force applied in just the right manner to remove keepers from the links for sizing. In the end I wasn't comfortable doing this and went in search of a stock black Seiko fabric strap like is used on the other colorways. Now, it is perfect, I consider it one of my dress watches."Value for money" is a bit difficult to characterize in this case. A few years ago the SNK series were entry-level sub $100 watches, but since they were discontinued in 2019-2020, their price has risen substantially even tho they remain readily available. I was happy to pay this price for this watch, but "value for money" in your case is something you will have to determine for yourself.Water resistance is rated at 100 meters, but since it lacks a screw-down crown I wouldn't test that by swimming with it. For splashes while washing your hands and being out in the rain, it is probably fine.In short, excellent watch that I'm pleased to add to my collection.

The original Seiko box was damaged in shipping because it was sent in an envelope instead of an outer box. My watches live in their original boxes when not worn, but I'll have to find another option for this one. If it weren't a very cheap watch, I would've asked for a replacement and hoped for better packaging. That said, the watch is very nice for the price and I'm pleased with it. In the first 24 hours it ran about +12 seconds, which is very good for an inexpensive watch and should be easy to regulate into more precision. *Note* This watch and bracelet have a matte stainless finish. I didn't realize from the photos it wasn't polished until after I purchased (before I received it). It's my only matte watch and it's kind of a nice change. I think it might look better with a black strap, so we'll try that. I bought this as a daily wearer, so I'm a little worried if the matte will show scuffs more than if it were polished.Very nice automatic mechanical watch for daily wear. Poor packaging choice.

Look, this is the best value for money in automatic watches. There's no contest, and if you're reading this, you already know that. The reviews you will read are all correct. It's beautiful, its functional, it's inexpensive, and it bats above its average. The ONE FLAW in this watch is in the illumination pips. They are completely symmetrical. At night, half awake, trying to orient your arm perfectly to 90 degrees to read the time, you are never guaranteed that 12 is where you think it is. This has already, one at least 2 occasions, caused me to read the time 1 hour off from the actual time. Putting a different shape at the 12 position would immediately fix this. There's already a triangle at the top of the face, JUST MAKE THAT ILLUMINATED.

I can’t believe the price on this thing. Looks fantastic - subtle but interesting, and pairs with anything - and has a great weight. The features for this price range are insane. Glow could be a little (a lot) better, but other than that, I couldn’t be happier with the watch.I really like the adjustability, too. You need a special tool to remove links, but the clasp itself also has small adjustments, so you can fine-tune the fit after you have the appropriate amount of links.I have small-to-medium wrists and this looks great. I HATE those snow-tire watches that are too deep or stupid wide. This is neither. It’s my everyday beater, and has stood up well.

1. Is the watch genuine. So, first of, I was and still am hesitant as to whether the watch is real or a just a decent replica. It came with a box, manual and a warranty card with just a date stamp. As far as I know, those watches have been discontinued for quite some time. The packaging seemed to be fine, except that the pillow the watch was resting on was of quite poor quality, and wasn't sewed completely.2. Bracelet. The stock steel(?) bracelet is junk. Replaced it almost immediately with a leather strap.3. Loom. The loom is almost non-existent. Sure, it looms fine when you enter a dark area straight from the street. But it sure does not last long. I've left it for an hour in a locker and it was gone completely after it spent about an hour in direct sunlight.4. Day/date. I am fine when the watch changes the date not perfectly at 12 o'clock mark, but mine does it like 15 before midnight.5. The dial. Other that that I absolutely love the dial and how the watch looks on my wrist. I was looking into bigger flieger style watches, but none of them have such an exceptional dial.6. Price. I feel like I've paid way too much for this watch. It should've probably cost like 60-sh, maybe 70-sh... It does not feel cheap in any way, but I have some $100 chinese watches that are better spec-ed and feel much better.
