The Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary of Fatima

The Shrine of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary of Fatima is an expression of the request of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary, indicated in the apparition of 13 October 1917 to the 3 Little Shepherds “I want to tell you that they make a chapel here in My honor; who are Our Lady of the Rosary ”(First Memory of Sister Lucia). The chapel was erected in 1919, on the site of the 1917 apparitions at the Cova da Iria and, since then, the space of the Sanctuary has been expanding, in response to the significant influx of pilgrims.

The Chapel of the Apparitions is the "Heart" of the Shrine of Fatima.

The Madonna appeared to the three little shepherds in the place where the chapel is located. Of the six apparitions of the Madonna, five took place here - May, June, July, September and October - where, on the recommendation of the Lady, a chapel should have been built in her honor. Erected between April 28 and June 15, 1919, it was subsequently blessed, celebrating mass for the first time on October 13, 1921. Blown up on the morning of March 6, 1922, it was rebuilt and re-inaugurated on January 13, 1923.

Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Virgin Mary ,

Mother of God and Our Mother, to your Immaculate Heart we consecrate ourselves in an act of total abandonment to the Lord. By You we will be led to Christ. Through him and with him we will be led to the Father. We will walk in the light of faith and we will do everything so that the world believes that Jesus Christ is sent by the Father. With him we want to bring love and salvation to the ends of the world. Under the protection of your Immaculate Heart we will be one people with Christ. We will be witnesses of his resurrection. By him we will be led to the Father, to the glory of the Most Holy Trinity, whom we adore, praise and bless. Amen
