As an enthusiast of Seiko's Prospex line, I recently added the Seiko SRPE99 to my collection, and it has quickly become a favorite.Design and Comfort: The Seiko SRPE99 is a special edition diver’s watch, known for its rugged and stylish design. It's part of Seiko’s partnership with PADI, featuring a red and blue uni-directional rotating elapsed timing bezel and a bold blue dial that's both eye-catching and functional. Few things beat the click of these bezels. The watch fits comfortably on my 7.25" wrist after sizing. The clasp, while stamped, feels solid and reliable, especially with the extension that fits well over a wetsuit. The overall weight of the watch is substantial, contributing to its solid feel.Movement and Accuracy: The watch is powered by the 24-jewel automatic movement Caliber 4R36, with a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and a power reserve of approximately 41 hours. It also offers manual winding capability. My experience with the watch shows it gains about 2 seconds a day, which is commendable for its price point. This aligns with the acclaimed accuracy and reliability of the 4R36 movement, as noted in other reviews.Durability: The SRPE99 is crafted of stainless steel, with a screw-down crown and caseback. It’s water-resistant up to 200 meters and follows ISO standards for scuba diving, making it a robust choice for both professional and recreational divers. The Hardlex crystal, while not sapphire, has proven durable and scratch-resistant in my use and others' experiences. There are other awesome watches in this family that are Sapphire and that would be a worthy upgrade for this watch.Resizing Caution: A word of caution for those unfamiliar with Seiko's pin and collar style pins - resizing the watch on your own might be challenging. It's advisable to get it resized professionally to avoid any mishaps.Overall Impression: The Seiko SRPE99 is a watch that carries the legacy of Seiko's craftsmanship and innovation. It's a well-rounded diver that ticks all boxes for a durable and stylish automatic watch. In my opinion, and as echoed by other reviewers, every watch enthusiast should consider owning at least one Seiko Prospex diver.Conclusion: The Seiko SRPE99 is not just a timepiece; it's a piece of history and a testament to Seiko's commitment to quality and innovation. The best sport diver on the market under $500. First off the movement out of the box is extremely accurate for this price point. Mine has been on my wrist now for 7 days straight and it’s is moving only 25 seconds slow. Pretty incredible considering the 4r36 movement inside is rated at -35/+45 seconds a day. Much better than I had expected.I had the srp777 (the black version) 4 years ago and loved it, a watch I always regretted letting go. This time around I went for the Pepsi padi version the srpe99. This is a perfect go anywhere sport watch. From the beach with the sd crown and 200m water resistant or throw on a leather strap and head out to dinner. For sure on the sportier side maybe not the best choice for a black tie event but perfect summer watch, vacation watch, fun watch.The finishing on the case is spot on, the lume is INCREDIBLE. Seiko lume wow. You just can’t beat the vintage case design paired with the modern movement.There is something about the cool factor of Seiko you just can’t put into words. If this is your first “real watch” purchase or you are a seasoned collector you can’t go wrong. This is sit proudly in your collection by itself, next to a timex quartz, or next to your Rolex sub.I got a micro brand field Watch for Christmas and I love it, but I find the Seiko just won’t leave my wrist. It’s watch that’s truly fun to wear.Case size: I prefer my divers as small as 38mm or a large as 42mm generally. My field and dress watches I’ll even go smaller. My Hamilton khaki 38mm gets a lot of wrist time as well a great all around watch, so I do like smaller watches. But this one at 45 wears MUCH smaller. If you prefer smaller watches don’t let the 45mm case size detour you. The vintage styling and the turtle case shape are beautiful, with the shorter lug to lug it wears smaller. Trust me coming from a guy who enjoys small watches this one at 45 is perfect. If they offered this In a 42 or 40 I would stillPrefer this case design at 45.Bracelet- honestly watch more can you ask for. It looks nice it wears nice and at this price point more attention should and did go into the case design of the watch than the bracelet. Yes a told sub or there are some micro brands out there that will come with nicer bracelets. But at this price point I don’t think you can get a better overall package. Sure you could find a watch out there under $500 with a nicer bracelet but you just can’t buy the Seiko charm. The bracelet works and wears well and I will not be upgrading the bracelet. But if you’re really looking for a next level bracelet…uncle Seiko or strap code has some options. I’m going to buy a leather strap for it and the Seiko rubber dive strap. There are other “nicer” straps offered but my srp777 came standard with the rubber and it was one of my most favorite rubber straps in my collection.The lume is amazing, the crown and thick and easy to operate. The applied indices, the bezel actions is great and they line up.What more can I say….sure you could fine nicer individual components…..a watch with a nicer bracelet or maybe one with a sapphire crystal at this price. But the larger picture under 500 you just can’t buy a better watch.This one has it all.

I recently bought this watch from Amazon, worried about its authenticity. To my relief, it appeared to be genuine upon receiving it. One thing that bugged me was the warranty card was not filled out by the jeweler correctly as well. I am a collector and own several high end watches so I know what to look for.However, when I got it professionally sized at a reputable store by a professional, it fell apart days later while I was wearing it.I decided to give it another chance and took it to an authorized Seiko dealer for repairing the band and resizing. Unfortunately, the band fell apart again about a week later.Despite my love for the watch, I have no choice but to return it. I'm disappointed and suspect that I received a faulty watch or it could be unauthentic.If you are considering buying this, I’d look elsewhere like Macys.
