I love the Seiko 5 movements and watches as they have been around for some time. I bought this one as I have an older Seiko 5 with a very similar face but in black. I thought this would just be the same watch but with a beautiful green face.First off, it does have the amazing Seiko 4R36A mechanical movement that beats at 21,600 beats which is just amazing to watch. Seiko also added the ability to wind the watch by hand, which in theory, they already could with the older movements. I'm not sure this is an improvement in my book.The face is both beautiful and disappointing. The green is a deep emerald green that is amazing to look at. The disappointment though is in two things. I thought it was going to be a flat emerald green, but it is glossy. Second, the crystal over the face is convex and not flat like the earlier Seiko 5 watches. Being convex is not a huge issue, but it distorts the face of the watch and I think makes it harder to read. The bigger issue though is the glossy green face. Being that this is a flieger style face of a watch, you don't want a gloss finish.I do love the watch strap color and texture. It has a beautiful deep brown with just a hint of red to it giving it a bit of an older look to the strap. It is quite stiff, which will take some breaking in, but in time, it will look and feel great.The watch is also a little thicker than the older Seiko 5 watches at 12.95 mm vs 11 mm. Part of this may be due to the concave crystal, but I believe the movement is just thicker too. I wish this wasn't as thick, as being almost 2mm thicker is significant for a watch.Lastly, the case is very nice looking, but again, shiny. From the picture, it looked like it was a satin finish, which for a flieger style watch would have been better as you would not want this watch to reflect light.
