The pearls themselves are beautiful and it is obvious that they are real. They have weight to them and a beautiful luster. A couple of things about the set were a little disappointing. One, I always thought that 16 inch would be a choker length, and 18 inch a normal necklace length. The necklace was 18 inches. I actually measured it and it was in fact 18 inches, so I was surprised that it fit as tightly as it did. I think because the width of the pearls was significant, it took up about an inch of length when you are actually wearing the necklace. So the 18 inch fit like a choker on me, which I didn't like. I will probably wear the necklace with a length extender in the back. Hopefully the extender will stay in the back of my neck and not swing around to the front. I don't think it will be a problem given that the pearls are so heavy. (They really are beautiful.)The second aspect I wasn't thrilled with was the clasp on the necklace and bracelet. I have never seen any clasp like it before. It was a tiny spike that you slip into a clamp like closure. It seemed secure, but because the spike was so short and small, it was hard for me to grasp it to put it into the receiver. There was just nothing to hold onto when you are trying to put it in.So it would probably work best for a young person with a very thin neck, and nimble fingers!

DO NOT BUY. While this set was lovely and beautiful the earrings stem was extremely weak and broke on the second use.
