So, the metal is fine with my piercing, doesn't cause any issues.. but I have an average sized nose. It's not tiny, it's not particularly narrow- but these things are WIDE and LONG. If you're using it for a septum retainer (like I was), they would be great for someone with a wide nose-- but as it is? If you have an average sized nose? It's gonna be a real issue.Most retainers I can slip in and then flip up so the ends are resting in the tip of my nose and the retainer itself is mostly out of sight. These are so broad that when I flip it up the ends actually push against the inside of the tip of my nose and cause it to be a bit disfigured.. I didn't keep it that way for more than an hour or two, but it was enough pressure that 1) it looked bad and 2) it seems like it would really start to hurt/chafe and cause soreness and sores after several hours or days.I ended up taking a pair of pliers and bending the tips of mine in a little bit- that made it fit better (and they're the black ones- I was happy to see that it didn't crack the coating or anything), but they're still so very long that they aren't comfortable, and I just didn't feel like taking them to a grinder to shorten them to a reasonable size.The length also makes them hard to get in- and especially hard to get out.So if you have a broader nose, or a deep & broad tip on your nose? These are probably gonna be great for you. I can definitely see that there could be a need for septum retainers like these-- but if you've got an average sized or narrow nose- these absolutely are not the retainers you want.

quality is good, but if you're going for a septum retainer, don't get the size i did. I'm a really really big dude and they're too big for me.

Jewelry is WAY TO WIDE!! Wasn't able to reorder the last ones I had since they discontinued and found these as my septum is gauged to a 10. Just received and they are very wide. Was trying to find something a little more discrete but these are the complete opposite. I don't recommend these unless you have a rather big and wide nose. All other gauge sizes come with different measurements but the 10 gauge does not. Highly disappointed in these.
