I purchased these as they will hold 17" Christmas tree centerpieces. The trees are made of strategically folded magazines, spray painted, mini ornaments, fairy lights, etc... other trees will be foam cones. All that to say they are not very heavy. I tried one out and my little trees have a bit of class added to them simply because they have this slow spin. There is no button to stop the spin other than to take it out of the sun for awhile. There is no storage for the solar lights. Out of the sun and the slow spin stops. Put a battery in and it will spin until the AA battery is depleted which is how I will have to present them for an evening show. All in all for the price and the size for my presentation is PERFECT!

I put my tumblers on these under my canopy at an outdoor festival and within 2 hours they had stopped spinning. I had just charged my rechargeable batteries, so I am not sure if the solar panel needs direct light to recharge.

does rotate but only works for very light objects. Recommend going with a larger model.
