This is a great box for a necklace. I purchased a diamond pendant for my daughter for Christmas and it came in a very cheap looking box. So I upgraded to this. The outside is kind of like a soft, satiny type material. The inside is a nice velvety black. It really makes the necklace pop. Luckily, the box has no smell. I purchased another one with the exact type of material on the outside and I had a very odd smell. I know that seems like something weird to review but that's important to some people.
