The PHOIBOS Leviathan is simply outstanding. It offers a ton of features: Date function, blue super lume, sapphire crystal with triple antireflective coating, 500 meter water resistance, helium escape valve, beautiful angular cuts on the 316L stainless steel case and a ceramic (no scratch) bezel. The Leviathan is powered by the Seiko NH38 movement, which is the open-heart variant of the ubiquitous Seiko NH35, The Seiko NH38 movement is rugged, dependable and accurate and is an excellent choice for the Leviathan. My particular Leviathan is showing +4 seconds per day accuracy which is within the COSC specs for Swiss made chronometers such as Rolex (the COSC standard for certification as a chronometer is -4 to +6 seconds time variance per day).I went back and forth on color and ultimately settled on the blue face and bezel. I was not disappointed when my watch arrived. It is a beautiful shade of medium blue, one that anyone who likes the color blue will find attractive.The only nit to pick with the Leviathan is its beefy, heavy duty rubber diver's strap. The rubber has a very nonslip texture, which makes feeding the end of the strap thru the two strap keepers a bit of a challenge.The strap has four "nubs" near the buckle to keep one of the strap keepers in place there. This makes feeding the strap end thru the strap keeper very difficult. The strap keeper nearest the buckle can be moved past these nubs, positioning it farther down the strap near the second strap keeper. This makes feeding the strap thru the keepers A LOT easier.With the nonslip texture of the strap, the keepers stay in place and do not come off the end of the strap. Once you get the strap adjusted, this watch isn't going anywhere!The challenge of adjusting the strap is a small price to pay for owning and wearing this beautiful watch - it is nowhere near a deal breaker IMHO.At a 45mm case size, the Leviathan is a large watch - Rolex Submariners and GMT Master IIs are in a 40mm case. The Leviathan's 45mm size is not awkward looking or ungainly, though. My wrist measures 7 inches around and the Leviathan looks right at home to my eye. This timepiece has a presence about it that exudes durability, beauty and classic good looks.The Leviathan is an amazing timepiece for the money - it checks ALL the dive watch boxes. I am simply floored that this beauty sells for $300. Many other watch companies would price this watch easily in the $500-700 price range. $300 for the Leviathan is a flat out steal IMHO.

Good quality watch all around. Good materials, and it feels well build . The screw down crown and hand wind works very smooth for a watch at this price. The only negative point was the strap, just because I found it ugly, but that is just stetics.

Much better looking in person than on the screen. This is fairly hefty. It's also an incredibly rugged and well put together timepiece.The band isn't my favorite. It's a bit stiff and it doesn't fit me well. I assume it will break in a bit with more wear, but it may not get the chance. It is very rugged! It will, no doubt, stand up to much more abuse than I would ever put it through. Similar bands without the Phoibos engraving are approaching $60 by themselves.This thing is built like a tank. It's got the NH35 guts of an ultra reliable, fine Japanese timepiece.And it has an Octopus with a crown.In fact, it has 3.You're gonna want more Octopus.
