The stone changes from pink - purple - blue. Most often, it's an amethyst color but all the hues are lovely.

In no way shape or form is this an Alexandrite. Not even a lab grown one. Alexandrite is chemically related to ruby and Alexandrite fluoresces a bright red under black light and purple under direct sunlight. The color change is weak or non-existent. This was a cheap sapphire and nothing better. Cheap enough, I'll find a use for this stone. Anyone looking for lab grown Alexandrite - look elsewhere.

Shipped quickly. It's a little lighter than I like, but I did end up putting it in a ring.
