Product Description

viking necklace ring bracelet

Viking Jewelry ---It’s no secret that Vikings loved their jewelry.

Viking jewelry was a form of both self-expression and alliance, much like it is in many cultures today. It served the purpose of portraying the strength of the wearer, such as in the case of a Thor’s hammer pendant representing the power of thunder and lightning.

Craftsmanship reflected their allegiance to their gods, beliefs and heritage. These various Viking symbols weren’t just found on jewelry – they were carved on rune stones and onto their weapons.

Viking Symbols and Meanings

Vegvisir

Helm of Awe

valknut

Vegvisir (Viking Compass)

Vegvisir means “That Which Shows the Way.”This symbol was a visual spell of protection against getting lost (particularly at sea) – something that would have been very, very important to the Vikings.

Ægishjálmr (Helm of Awe)

Helm of Awe, is a magical Icelandic symbol of protection and victory. The Helm of Awe is mentioned in several of the Eddic poems as being used by both warriors and even dragons!

Valknut (Knot of the Slain)

The Valknut is most-commonly believed to be the symbol of these slain warriors. The exact meaning of the three interlocking triangle shapes is unknown. Clues arise from Celtic and Neolithic art from Northwestern Europe in which interlinking triple shapes are common indicators of magical power and magical essence.

Yggdrasil

rune

Mjolnir

Yggdrasil (Tree of Life)

Yggdrasil is the vast “ash tree” that grows out of the Well of Destiny ( Urðarbrunnr). All nine worlds or nine dimensions are entwined in its branches and its roots. Yggdrasil, therefore, serves as a conduit or pathway between these nine dimensions that the gods might travel. If this all seems a little difficult to imagine, you are not alone.

Runes (Norse Alphabet)

Rune casting was another magical use of runes in the Viking Age. Rune casting or “casting rune sticks” involves spilling pieces of bone or wood (each carved with a rune) onto a piece of cloth.

Mjolnir (Thor's Hammer)

Mjölnir (me-OL-neer) means grinder, crusher, hammer and is also associated with thunder and lightning. When the Vikings saw lightning, and heard thunder in a howling storm, they knew that Thor had used Mjölnir to send another giant to his doom.

LET THE PAST INSPIRE THE PRESENT

Most cultures around the world use art and historical concepts from their past as an inspiration when it comes to clothes, jewelry, furniture, architecture and so forth. As Scandinavians it is a natural step for us to do the same.We take great pride in that our products are designed with a full understanding and appreciation of our heritage. We have the knowledge and respect required to use symbol, runes, designs and concepts in a correct fashion.

The GuoShuang Nordic Viking necklace is well-crafted and very beautiful. I honestly didn't expect it to be as good of quality as it was for the price, but I was surprisingly wrong and the person I gave it to was very happy with it. The chain was thick and durable.I would highly recommend and probably would purchase another one for a gift in the future.

The medallion is well crafted and beautiful as expected. I was NOT expecting the chain that came with it to be so nice. Overall very happy with my purchase and will absolutely buy from this seller again.

Everyone that see my wolf necklace loves it. And it’s not very heavy. Which makes it okay to wear on nights out.

Linda Hurley
What I don't like about it is how big it is when you hold in your hand. So I just hung it on my mirror in my car. Other than that it's made well and the gold goes really well with the silver. I don't think it's worth the price you have to pay.

Kelly Dixon
I love this! Its a little heavier than it looks but i give it 5 stars! The detail is very good as well!

Brianna Dominguez
Sturdy and nicely detailed

I did a "23 And Me" DNA test just for the fun of it and somethings were not at all surprising: English-Irish,German. But it came up 0% Scandinavian!?My sister is the family historian, and she definitely traced our ancestors to Denmark. So, I'm very confused and disappointed. An email to "23" came back a bit rude and dismissive. Then I read a geneticist (who isn't alone) who believes these kinds of DNA for fun kits are wildly inaccurate, in particular due to the fact that companies like "23" lack extensive and therefore historical, DNA examples and can therefore be wildly inaccurate. So, I may have to box up my Viking stuff and put it in a boat, set it on fire, and push it out into open water."The horror, the horror, the horror." --Marlin Brando "Apocalypse now"

Husband loved the necklace- good quality
