about item
  • This is a hand-forged brooch made of heavy twisted carbon steel treated to look like wrought iron in the Celtic style. Brooches of this style were worn in Celtic and Germanic countries since pre-Roman times. It is worn with a loosely woven blanket-style cloak where it is easy to pierce the fabric with a thick pin like this. Our Grand Medieval Dress Cloak Pin Pennanular Renaissance Brooch is practical, functional and beautiful. These forged steel pins brooches are strong and made to be used.
  • This beautiful brooch is hand-forged by our skilled artisans. Artful twists form the open ring ending in outward turning scrollwork at the terminals. The rotating needlepoint pin sits on top of the ring, allowing you to secure your shawl, cloak, or great kilt. This Twisted Medieval Cloak Pin a versatile addition to almost any cloak.
  • This Twisted Medieval Cloak Pin is more than that, as it features an elegant touch of detail that makes it perfect for all classes, noble and peasant alike. The cloak pin consists of a twisted, open-edged ring, with a rotating needle pin. It is used by laying the cloak about your shoulders, and then guiding the pin through the various layers of cloak fabric.
  • The brooch became the typical ornament of the era because it normally functioned as a fastening for a heavy tunic or cloak. The Grand Medieval Dress Cloak Pin Pennanular Renaissance Brooch was elegantly made with decorative twists and spirals to add a dramatic look to this piece. This piece is perfect for re-enactments, costumes, or Ren Fens.
  • If you are looking for the perfect finishing touch to your ensemble, then the Iron Brooch/Cloak Pin is sure to please. Forged from iron, this decorative piece hails back to the Dark Ages and features a twist design that gives it a unique appearance. This clasp will look great fastened to a cloak or other attire. This Twisted Medieval Cloak Pin is more than that, as it features an elegant touch of detail that makes it perfect for all classes, noble and peasant alike. Cloak Pin

Hand forged with great attention to detail, this decorative brooch features a fine twisted knot pattern in a matte black finish with knotted ends and it is attached via a very sharp 4 inch long pin. As attractive as it is useful, this handsome brooch is representative of jewelry used to pin closed cloaks or other garments. Especially useful in the harsh climates of Northern Europe, fashions in brooches (also known in ancient times as a fibula) often changed very quickly, making them important chronological indicators.

It works great on a cloak and looks nice.

Phillip Duncan
Itll do the job but it is poorly crafted and the paint is chipped, flaking off.

This was pretty awesome! It looked like something youd dig up from some medieval ruins. Only thing was there was a lot of excessive oil on it and had to be thoroughly cleaned before use. It left black on everything it touched until I cleaned it.

the pin wash very sooty, which was expected from the reviews. and it takes quite a lot of scrubbing to get off, which I didn't expect. not a problem, just don't expect to wear it right when you receive it. the three issues (and the only reasons its not a 5 star) is because : 1.) the wire looping is a much smaller gauge than advertised, and I don't like being lied to about the appearance. I was expecting sturdier wire from their picture, and that's what should have been crafted. 2.) the twisting is horrible. it looks like an apprentice did it. mine is more square than round, and it's not even in spacing either. I understand and forging is never perfect, but this isn't the same style as the product picture. and you can see from my picture exactly what I mean. again, wouldn't be a problem if they didn't advertise such a perfect specimen. 3.) the pin is advertised as "very sharp" which it is not. I've yet to finish cleaning the pin, but once I do, I am worried it will tear a hole in the clock instead of pushing through it. I'll be filing it down by hand.

Gorgeous 💖 much larger than expected and will be wonderful for my project

The brooch pin is very pretty and appears well made, but I took it out of the package and pinned it to my new cloak and it left a black residue that is difficult to remove on my cloak. It also left an oily black residue on my hands. I have scrubbed the pin several times now and think I will use it, but I think my new cloak may be ruined with the stain.

Turned out great! Not exactly like the picture, but very close. Arrives a little sooty, from the blacksmithing, so it will need some cleaning.
