My name is I Wayan Buana. I was born in Sukawati, Bali in 1974. My father was a civil servant while my mother was a food seller. I'm the oldest of four children. I remember my childhood was so happy. My parents really loved and took care of their children well. Because our family's economic condition was so limited, I worked after school so I could pay the school fees for my siblings, and also help my parents. I like sports like badminton, and I often exercise near my house. In Sukawati, most of the villagers are wood carvers, silversmiths and clothing sellers. It's also famous because of its rich culture and arts. For those who are looking for inspiration, you can find tons of ideas amid Bali's tranquil atmosphere and beautiful scenery.

About this item: Suspended from a .925 sterling silver pendant, an eagle's fierce, proud beauty distinguishes this novel design. Buana carves the head of the brave bird from cow bone and crowns it with a 4 mm round amethyst cabochon. A black leather cord with sliding knots completes the necklace. The cord length can be adjusted between 15.75 inches and 31.5 inches. The pendant is 1.6 inches long (including the bail) and .3 inches wide.
About our Artist: Like most people who were born and live in Gianyar Regency, Buana has been surrounded by handicrafts since he was a child. Gianyar is a part of Bali known throughout the world for its beautiful landscapes and exceptional artistic legacy. Handicrafts like shadow puppets made of cowhide, woodcarving and silver jewelry are created there in towns like Tegalalang, Ubud, Sukawati and Celuk. In 1990, Buana decided to learn to craft silver jewelry from a friend in Celuk. He learned it all, from the very basic skills like sanding, polishing and making plates to very advanced techniques. Supported by his family, Buana has continued his profession as a silversmith. I am thankful to God for giving me such a great gift so I can make a living for my family. Not much, perhaps, but enough for our simple way of life, he says. Hopefully through Novica I can offer a better future to my wife and two children.

I bought this as a gift for my husband as we celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary. The small amethyst is a symbol of the number of years and the eagle is a symbol of strength and protection. The item is carved in Indonesia, where I will be visiting without my husband in the spring. He will wear the talisman while I am there so he can be with me in spirit.

I have ordered two of these necklaces because the cord does NOT adjust (thinking it was just the first one)....there is no way to get it over the head of an adult. I love the pendant, but the cord does not adjust to allow one to put the necklace on.

I really am happy with this necklace, its very nice. The quality is nothing short of what I expected it to be. The string itself it adjustable, although my husband has "big hair" so even at its largest length it was a little tricky to get on but still was able to. Once over his head and locks plenty of extra slack. Its not heavy or to big, and its not to flashy. Perfect for him as he doesn't like any of those things. Its very unique and very easy to tell its a handcrafted piece.I did a flash picture so you could see the jewel a little better but then you lose the detail of the bird carved on the bone. Even though it has a jewel its subtleness is perfect for a man. My husband is a "manly man" and this was still a nice necklace that worked well with his simple style.I got this product at a discount in exchange for my honest opinion.

This hand made necklace is awesome! I he band is made of real leather, which is comfortable to wear all day. The product is definitely made quality with real almost pure silver, real amethyst, and real bone. Most importantly, it looks great!
