The chain is quite dainty and includes a two or three inch extender. The gift box has heart-felt messages written on the display case. We gave this to our daughter for Christmas and were very happy with it. It is very pretty, and we just loved the gift box that it came in. This is a beautiful necklace and the card with the little note made me tear up a bit.
