I gave a woman this for christmas, she was HAPPY The woman i gave this too really loved it, she is buying new tops to show it off thats how much she likes it. it has been a month since she got it and it is holding up fine and she still loves it. Some items show the metal rubbing off but not this. She loved the design too and her birthstone. I got this necklace as a Christmas present from my husband.It was a great surprise.I like what it says " I'd be lost without you".The saying is very appropriate for this beautiful 18kt gold plated compass necklace.The quality is great and the CZ Ruby and tiny CZ's sparkle with light.The lobster clasp on the chain makes it easy to get on and off.I recommend this necklace for yourself or for a special person in your life. It would make a great Valentine's or Anniversary gift.

This is a really nice gift option, and its presentation is clearly made for that. It comes in a nice faux-velvet jewelry box, and in a novel outer box which is styled like a boutique shopping bag (but fits securely around the inner box and is made of light cardboard). This is a wonderful birthday or anniversary gift type presentation-- the outer box ("boutique bag" style) means you don't need wrapping paper, and it comes with little ribbon handles and everything. It is a nice packaging presentation.The pendant itself is nicer in person than the pictures, and it is a sentimentally solid accent piece. This isn't fine jewelry, but is a step above costume jewelry-- that said, the price is VERY high (current listing is $99) for what you get. I don't understand where that cost comes from: this is a sterling necklace (maybe $15 in silver) with passably decent 18k gold plating ($10?) and a bunch of simulated/cz stones (which are worth a few bucks). This looks more like a $40 jewelry option from a shopping mall gift shop, not a $100 piece of fine jewelry.The font isn't centered on the compass, which is awkward and not in a fashionable or ironic way, and overall I would say that the piece would be better served WITHOUT the text-- which is tacky, and instantly makes it unwearable by most adults (as it strips away any/all class). This is more like what a child or teenager thinks of as a romantic gesture-- this is what a child thinks of as classy, but is actually rather tacky.If not for the $99 price tag, I would say that this would be a great gift for younger people (to give or to receive) but with an adult price point, I can't really picture who this is made for. (I've given it to my late service dog, and hung it from a pet memorial.)At half the cost, this would be a 4 star item. At this cost, I think I'm being generous with 3, and only if I squint so I can't see the off-center text.
