I have an Apple Watch. I have a bunch of fancy dress watches. I was an early adopter of fitbit. OK that probably qualifies me to opine. This is a fully functional and clever pedometer built into a really nice looking watch that nobody would believe is a Timex.Good stuff: Simple to read watch. Set goals and you can see the percentage achieved without going through stupid menus. Just look at the dial.Bad stuff: It looses a minute a day(!) Maybe that is just a flaw in my particular watch but I would not expect it for a quartz watch.Good stuff: It is a really nice looking watch and just the right size.Bad stuff: (BTW: I don't really care about this but if you do here it is) The app for this watch is stupid and cumbersome. It doesn't tell progress over time and syncing the watch is painful. I stopped using it and I am getting all I need from this watchGood stuff: It auto resets the activity counter at midnight everyday so there is no need to reset anything manually.Overall a good looking watch that I have taken to wearing daily. I don't need to recharge it or sync it or mess with it if I don't want to. It just tells me in percentage how I am doing at achieving my walking goals.

There are quite a few negative reviews of this watch, so many in fact that I almost didn't make the purchase. Perhaps my expectations were set so low that I was pleasantly surprised when it performed exactly how it was advertised to perform. The watch itself is attractive albeit on the dressy side which was actually a mixed virtue because I had bought it as an activity tracker with the intent of wearing it outside in situations where my phone was either an encumbrance or at risk. However, the watch looks nice enough that I don't want to mar it's appearance. It wears comfortably but it's thickness is a few millimeters too tall. It's going to snag long sleeves and cause the cuffs to fray over time. The dial, white alpha numeric over a chocolate background with silver hands and hour markings is easy to see. All of the hands and the metal markers seem overly bright to me, like Christmas tree tinsel, but the watch looks good, however not expensively made, similar to most smart watches. Although the hands have a bit of luminescence, the lume is faint but it glows for several hours. Most are going to use the Timex Indiglo feature anyway. The band, a chocolate honeycomb pattern looks dressy in a traditional way.I like that the watch has a conventional battery and does not need to be charged nightly. I also like that the tracker/watch looks like a conventional analog watch. As mentioned, I read the manual completely before attempting to use it, downloaded the most recent app Timex 4.1.11.11 from Google Play and allowed the watch to do a firmware upgrade before attempting to sync. I have had the watch for two weeks now and I have not had any problem with it syncing with my phone. The Timex App is not as full featured as Google Fit and the tracker seems to work only with the Timex app. The watch's tracking seems to mirror my phone's tracking and also the activity tracking on an Apple device that I have. None of them agree exactly but the timing and distance seem close on all three devices.I like the way the watch looks and it has worked exactly as advertised. Maybe I just got a good one and maybe it will all go out the window at the next firmware update or battery changing, maybe it will contaminate all my other devices with the Blue Borne malware but right now I have to say it's been exactly what it was advertised to be.

To be fair, I'll start by saying I like the watch for the most part... But the 2 star rating is mostly because of the horrible app that supports it.Super bummed to AGAIN have lost all of my watch data because of the terrible Timex Connect app! Ran updates for all of my iPhone apps and didn't see that this one was included and when it updated, it lost all of my watch data... For the 3rd time! There is no data backup, no export, no charting or graphs, no sleep tracking (promised in Spring of 16 and it's almost fall), and many other lacking features. What is the point of an activity tracker that can't keep track of my activity.I got the watch because I wanted an activity tracker that didn't look like all the other black bands around. But after losing all my data again (I know you're thinking user error but I promise, it's not), I basically wish I had just gotten a different watch. The watch looks pretty good, but it's lacking. Having no date on there kinda sucks and I've found that it's actually really hard to read. I couldn't figure out why for some time, but finally realized it's because the "steps" numbers go out of sync with the time "tick marks" after 7... As you look at it, the 1 - 7 (actually markers for thousands of steps) line up with the tick marks but then jump smaller after that so by the time you hit the 9 "tick mark," it had the number 10 on there, the 10 o'clock tick mark reads 12, etc. Kinda hard to explain (look closely at the face of the watch and you'll see it) but it messes with my brain often enough that I have to sit and really look and think about it before I can tell the real time (again, I know what you're thinking, but all I wear is analog watches, so I really do know how to read the time...).I rarely write reviews, but that app is so bad and virtually useless, it makes what would otherwise be a cool watch, useless! Buyer beware...9.15.16 EditNow the watch just says "error occurred during sync" and won't sync any data. I searched everywhere for support or troubleshooting and it just isn't available. Money down the drain... this will be my last Timex purchase.
