In the last four or five months, with a house overhaul, I've made maybe a thousand purchases from Amazon. I haven't stopped to review everything. Frankly, not everything deserves it. There are things, however, maybe a little kitschy, maybe a little cool, but things like a Steampunk Leather Retro Watch with kind of a bondage-y vibe going for it? Yes, I'll stop to smell the roses. ;DFirstly, let's talk "genuine leather." Can I say that it is not? No. I'm no leather expert. I can tell you, though, that while I wouldn't say it feels like plastic, it definitely isn't a "soft" leather. Grainy and course, I find it a tad distracting, and sometimes a little painful (good heavens, don't let it catch arm hair! It'll send you to the ceiling!) to wear. It's gorgeous on, and the design (despite the price, which, can I just say... wow?) is top-notch, but if we're looking for why we're paying less than $10 for this thing, you don't have to look any further than the materials.The clasps, doing them on your own is a joke! Not gonna happen. The "leather" (again -- quotations) is really stiff and so the complications the buckles on the top of the piece present are numerous and exhausting! But, who puts one of these things on by themselves? =D I'm going to assume the answer to that question is zero! And, maybe, in a pinch (there will be pinches!) you could lay your wrist on it on your bed, then press and fold and tuck and buckle in a way that would give you the look you're going for. However, on my own, I had a watch-let (bracelet & watch?) that was far too loose, giving it kind of a sloppy and not at all super-sexy vibe!Now, with the help of the husband, the dial set just where it should and the leather stretched in such an appealing way that it was not just worth every penny, but worth maybe another $12 more? =D And that's really saying something.You know how sometimes watches that aren't purchased from say a Bulova or even a Timex look cheap? I was worried about that with this watch face! FEARS COMPLETELY AVERTED! The facing on the watch is prime. As I said, it looks expensive, and as a discussion piece, well... -laughing- the conversation won't stop. Not unless you want it to! =DWith all the things I've bought, it's the only super cheap item I've gotten that I thought I should have paid more for, but was still a 5-star buy, despite its 4-star ouchies. ;D
