Casio W87H-1V Sports Wrist Watch (Black)

This watch is an affordable serving of awesomesauce! I admit it, I'm a cheapskate when it comes to watches. I want my daily wear watch to be cheap, tell the time, glow bright blue when I press a button, tell the time, not cost a lot of money, and be easy to set the time. Oh...and tell the time. This watch excels at all of those requirements, and does it FLAWLESSLY. This is the third one of these I've owned. When the battery dies, I just buy a new one. I once tried to replace a battery in a Casio watch but I was not able to close it tightly enough to maintain the waterproof seal and a few showers later, it was kaput. The Casio service centers charge $30 for repair, so why bother when you can get a new one for under $20? Previous to this current one, I owned 2 93H-1AVs. There was one small step in the programming of that model which was nicer than this one, but it was so minor I don't even remember it anymore. The downside of those two (purchased at the most giantest retail Mart of Wals that is every retail snob's favorite store to hate - before we were subscribed to Amazon Prime (which is why I bought this one thru Amazin' Amazon)) was they had a "sport" wrist band that was part woven fabric, which stayed wet for a couple hours after getting out of the shower. The band on this W87H-1V is plastic/rubberized so no issues with getting the cuffs on long sleeve shirts wet getting dressed after a shower. The battery in these watches seems to last about 4 years with an average of 1-2 ILLUMINATOR button presses per night. I HAVE used this watch to read by in a perfectly dark room. That's how bright the ILLUMINATOR is. Another reviewer also wrote a bit of genius about this watch: "the great big, easy-to-find-when-half-asleep button that operates the light." AMEN and thanks for that bit of wisdom, stranger55 "Fred"!

Love it.

I enjoy this watch as my daily watch. I am not a jewelry type person. I have been ordering this same watch for over a decade….. and will continue.

I like this watch. I don't like the watch band. The watchband last about 2 to 3 years and then it breaks where you put the latch in. It's cheaper to buy a new watch than buy a replacement watchband, SAD. I like the light function a lot. I like the way it looks, and the price was right. It's a good day to day knock around watch.

I have had this Casio model watch for longer than I can remember. It has withstood constant shocks from doing carpentry, working on my motorcycle and the constant work required to keep a house built in 1885 in decent condition. I bought a new one of this model because a quick search showed the replacement band costs as much as the watch. Shortly after ordering the new watch I found a good band at a very reasonable price. So now I have a spare in case the old one finally succumbs after going through three bands and two battery replacements. Despite its hard life I found I could polish up the plastic lens and case to the point it almost looked as good as its new twin. Casio should be proud.

I purchased this for camping and hiking. Figured if I smacked it on a rock or whacked it on a tree limb and it broke, so what? I'd throw it away like I have so many others. That was five years and I don't know how many camping trips ago. OK, the face is scratched and the lettering on the "LIGHT" button is hard to read but I've beat the daylights out of this thing and it still works perfectly. Dead accurate, strong illumination, very light weight, water and shock PROOF. No kidding, I've chopped a ton of wood with it on my wrist and it didn't bother it at all. It's been in the rain, ocean, rivers, showers, etc... and there's with no sign of leaks. The battery lasted three years and took all of ten minutes for me to replace it with a coin cell I got from the local drug store. (The back of the case is screwed on with standard Philips-head screws.) Another plus is the size and thickness. The face is big enough that I don't need my glasses to see it in a dark tent at night but it is small and thin enough that it doesn't interfere with cuffs and gloves in the winter. Best part: You don't need a double "E" degree to set the thing and the alarm is loud. Wear it to church with your Sunday-go-to-meeting suit? Well, no... After all it does look like a watch you spent 20 bucks on. All time best watch for camping and hiking? You betcha! If you're involved in Scouting, get a handful and use them as door prizes and rewards. The Scouts love them!

I've used this watch for many years, probably decades. I'm hard on watches but this one takes the abuse. It's less than $20, lasts for several years, keeps good time, has a backlit screen for easy reading in bad lighting. It doesn't last forever, so I need to get a new one every few years, but I never look for another model, I just buy another of these Casios.

This is a good watch at under $15 price point. Its simple rugged design is easy to ready, and easy to operate. This is a mid size watch. Not large and bulky like gshock, but its not petite looking either. The casing does kinda look and feel plasticy, but I dont mind and dont question its durability. I like it for daily use.Has modes - Time 12/24 hour, Alarm, and stop watch. (does not have dual time, which I dont care for anyways because I not a frequent traveler).Main display shows - Time, day, date, alarm indicator, PM indicator, 24 hour mode indicator, and stop watch split time indicator. The light has a cool blue glow that lights up the whole screen evenly.
