Review Skagen Denmark Watch

How to size a Skagen steel mesh band

I've had this watch for a little over a month, and it's now my favorite. To give you some perspective, it's up against a handful of Casio G-Shocks. Although I love the Casio watches, they're incredibly bulky and flop all around my rather skinny wrist unless I strap them on so tight that they cut off all blood flow to my hand. Also, the Casio watches are not that aesthetically pleasing.I was at first disappointed by this watch because both the watch face and the band are darker than the image advertised on Amazon. Also, adjusting the band to my wrist took some figuring out. Also, how to actually put the watch on and clasp it took some figuring out. Also, the watch fit rather weirdly on my incredibly skinny wrist (really, it's like bone with some skin draped over it). However, I loved how thin the watch is and how cool the mesh band looks and feels, so I took the trouble to figure out how to better fit it to my wrist and how to properly clasp it. Now I put it on and take it off with no thought or effort at all, and it has not yet come loose or fallen off.I have not received a single compliment on this watch--but then, I spend all my time at work and most of the people I work with are idiots. I'm sure that if I spent time with better company, I'd get the compliments that others report because this is a really good looking, comfortable watch. It's keeping excellent time and is so thin and light that most of the time I forget I have it on. However, when I need to tell time I can easily and with a glance. Since I have good glasses, I can easily read the date window as well. The coolest thing about this watch is that, although my wrist is so skinny that the mesh band wraps virtually all the way around itself, it doesn't stick out to the side. If you already own this watch and have a skinny wrist, you know what I mean. This watch has no bells and whistles beyond being lightweight, slender, beautiful, and functional. I like it more than any watch I have ever owned.

Style is a matter of personal opinion but in my opinion this is a nice looking watch. The brown version is also stylish if brown is your preference. I was cursed with thin bones and a small wrist. This watch is exceptionally thin and does not look either conspicuous or out of place when I wear it. But people notice it and favorably comment on its appearance. This is the second of this specific Skagen SKW6006 watch that I have owned. After a couple years the battery failed in my initial watch. I took it to Walmart to have the battery replaced and that proved to be a significant judgment error. Walmart scratched up the back of the watch, may or may not have installed the correct battery, apparently messed up the actual watch mechanism with the battery installation since it quit working soon after, and may well have made the watch either unrepairable or uneconomically repairable. Walmart had succesfully replaced batteries in other watches that I have owned so I don't know the exact point in the chain of battery replacement events that damaged my Skagen watch. Regardless because even though I am certain that Walmart damaged my watch there is no point in challenging them since it was working when I left the store. The next morning the second hand would unsuccesfully try to advance and the watch no longer worked.I purchased from Amazon a second identical model watch at a much lower price than my first Skagen watch because I really like this model watch. I do not know if it has a valid Skagen warranty but I do know that having Walmart work on my watch invalidated the once valid first watch warranty. This was the last of two watches offered for sale by Amazon LLC at the time that it was ordered so my ordering situation may have passed when this review is read. The new watch was shipped horribly packed but it amazingly was not damaged and has been working fine for a week--not a real test. My old Skagen watch worked perfectly for several years until the battery died. Nice features--day and date. It was always accurate. The luminosity of the hands is underwhelming but I really don't care. I have read complaints about the crystal cracking. The crystal on my first watch never cracked but it does have a very minor scuff. If the watch is not properly latched it will be lost and gone forever and care is always required when putting on the watch and operating the latch. It really is an unsecure design waiting for human error. ALWAYS take the time to assure that it is correctly latched! I found the band to be comfortable. If you learn from my experience send the watch either to Skagen's authorized repair center (reported to be very reputable) or to some other reputable servicer to have the battery replaced. I have read that done correctly the gasket should be replaced if the back cover is removed. Battery replacement prices vary but considering that Walmart charged me about $7 to ruin my watch the additional expense is probably justified if you like the watch.I will probably explore if my first Skagen watch can be economically repaired but as of now I have a new watch that works perfectly.

This is the second Skagen I’ve owned. I find they are very accurate, durable and stylish.

I still use a wrist watch to tell time and not for jewelry so I won't pay a fortune for over priced watches that can read my blood pressure or can tell if I am hungry and late for dinner. Skagen makes the most attractive slim profile men's watches. I have a lighter silver dressy version. This one is for every day use. Attractive design, slim, light weight, easy band adjustments and accurate. Comfortable to wear but silver hands on the black face are sometimes hard to see behind the glare from the lens. That's my fault because I should have known. Had that problem before but I over looked it because I liked the look of the watch. Liked it enough to keep it and not complain about my mistake. White face would have been better but didn't look as good.
