This Seiko 5 divers watch is both attractive and purpose built. The watch is exactly as depicted. This is a very attractive dive watch. The face is vibrant, the hands ease to read, the lume is bright and the band is very sturdy. The rotating ring has the correct amount of resistance, it moves easily but isn't going to move due to just wearing the watch. I especially like the ease of opening and securing the clasp. I was able to resize the band with simple tools and the addition of arrows on the inside of the band was an excellent assist on getting the pins in correctly. The watch has kept time accurately and it has been easy to maintain the automatic spring wound with daily use. I have been happy with all of my Seiko watches and this one lives up to my expectations of quality and craftsmanship. I highly recommend this Seiko watch.

I love this watch. High quality and the price are right. I've been a fan of Seiko watch because they are so reliable, accurate and last longer. I always recommend Seiko watch to all my friends and co-worker.

For starters, this is a “desk diver” for me. I don’t even swim. I got this style watch for the rotating bezel, it helps track my break time at work. I’ve had manual wind watches (cheap watches way back in the 70’s/80’s), plenty of digitals, a dozen quartz watches, even a couple of “smart” watches, but this is my first automatic. I feel like I have my first “real” watch. Accuracy is terrific. After wearing it for a week, it only gained five seconds. A quick hacking of the movement brought me back to synchronized with GMT+5. My picture shows an upgrade I performed on day two, the bracelet. The most frequently criticized quality/feature of the SRPD55K1 is the bracelet. I got the SRPD55K2 so I could skip the Seiko bracelet and have the leather/rubber strap instead. I picked up a 22mm “Beads of Rice” bracelet… beautiful combination. There are watch mod sites where you can buy parts to tweak your watch to exactly what you want if you are so inclined. I’m going to change my bezel insert to a black and green lumed version for additional functionality and personalization. This watch is fantastic right out of the box, no modifications are necessary to make it a great daily wear. It’s the best $220 I’ve spent in a long time. The fact that it can take modifications easily makes it fun to personalize to your specific tastes. I am definitely picking up another Seiko very soon, something dress casual (SRPH87?) to wear when I’m not showing off this sport model.

This is a good Seiko watch. The water resistance is questionable and does not have a screw down crown. It is a straight movement watch, no electronics. Being a system 5 Seiko there were a good many changes Seiko made to get the price point down and that's where the water proof went I suspect. I have not gotten a time Rate on this watch for accuracy. When I do I'll add that to this review.

The watch arrived on time and in good condition. It was as displayed and I’m happy with my purchase!

This is definitely a nice budget watch from Seiko. Although it kind of replaces the SKX, there are some changes that will make the purists mad but will probably appeal to mass users. So, the screw down crown is gone and the the WR has gone from 200m to 100m, so this is not a Diver watch anymore, although it looks like one. On the bright side, they have added hacking seconds and manual winding which is pretty cool. So far, in terms of accuracy my watch runs around -6s/day, which is pretty good given that the calibre specs of +45/-35s per day.Pros- Looks good with a deeper dial finishing- Hacking Seconds- Manual Winding with very satisfactory feeling- Good Lume- Very comfortable on the wrist, wears smaller than 42.5mm- Reliable movement- Good actual calibre accuracy- Made in JapanCons- Flimsy bracelet- Only 100m WR- Hardlex instead of Sapphire- Mushy bezel rotation- Open caseback but not the prettiest of movement to look at- Poor Calibre spec (although much better in reality)- Low power reserve (40 hours)In summary, given the price I paid I am very satisfied with my order and it is fun to have an everyday beater watch that you actually enjoy wearing. At this price point, its cons can be overlooked, at least for me, as they don’t mess with my experience.

Very comfortable, looks amazing, and functions perfectly. Cant go wrong with a Seiko!

Mechanically the new 5 Sports line (commonly referred to as the "5KX" pieces by Seiko-holics) is no great masterpiece. The internals are Seiko's in-house 4r36, 24 jewel, self-winding automatic movement with seconds hacking and handwinding. It's an entry-level caliber with approximately 41 hours of power reserve. It won't win any accuracy contests but it should provide many years of reliable service if taken care of.The OEM bracelet provided with this reference is exactly what you would expect. It's rattly and loose, has a cheap stamped clasp, and hollow end links. Sizing is a simple process as the links use simple split tip friction pins for removal/replacement. I removed this off of mine as soon as it was delivered and put it back in the box. I likely won't ever use it.The silver sunray dial plays with available light in a satisfying fashion. Seiko's inclusion of drilled lugs will make strap changes a simple process and the neutral dial color combined with the metal YachtMaster-style relief bezel turns this one into a proper strap monster. It will look acceptable on basically anything you throw at it.The luminescent material on the hands and indices is Seiko's proprietary Lumibrite. 'Nuff said. It's more than adequate for low light or no light legibility. These 5KX pieces offer 100 meters of water resistance.... while no professional dive watch like the now-discontinued SKX they essentially replaced but it's perfectly acceptable for an everyday wear piece. At the retail list price north of $300 usd I don't feel these are a particularly solid value. I caught this on sale right here on Amazon for just shy of $181 and under $200 it's a heckuva buy.
