If your a dude, like me, who’s married and went with the 6mm wide, 18k Yellow Gold, heavy “comfort-fit” plain wedding band for about a thousand bucks like I did, I hope you learn from my mistake and buy the identical Sterling Silver version of your ring ahead of time for under $40. Story time. I wear my gold ring everywhere. Have for 3 great years now and I don’t much mind when it scratches or dings because it’s an extension of my hand and my hands do some things (mostly driving big red trucks and putting that wet stuff on the hot red stuff). I do however take my gold ring off when I use sandpaper to smooth out axe handles or smooth coats of paint between coats. Of course, as you’ve guessed, one day I took my ring off before leaving work to quickly sand and paint a small project and didn’t realize I wasn’t wearing my ring for a couple days, which is quite unusual for me, but none the less. The area of the project had been swept clean and the bin of sweepings had been emptied into a dumpster outback quite full of trash. Since the ring was nowhere to be found in the station, I did the deed, and emptied the entire dumpster onto a tarp down to bare metal, and replaced every bit of trash piece by piece, and sifted through the dust dirt and grime, even metal detecting in hopes to find the ring. I did not find the ring. I ordered this sterling ring, same dimensions as my gold to stand-in until I would inevitably replace my gold ring. Well I ended finding my ring two weeks later in the pair of pants that I wore home that day I left work because they ended up underneath a bin I removed from my closet, and there it stayed till I moved the bin and yeah… SO. I got the sterling ring, it’s heavy, it’s comfy, it’s cheap, and it’s silver. I’ll be wearing my sterling ring at work or when I travel from now on, and losing it won’t hurt nearly so badly.
