Pure Gold, known as 24k gold, is entirely gold, 24 parts out of 24. Most jewelry however, is made from either 18k, 14k, or 10k gold. Pure gold is alloyed with other metals for added strength and to produce a variety of colors, most commonly yellow, white, and rose. The percentage of gold to its weight plus the alloy is what is referred to as the karat of gold. Higher karat gold jewelry products offer heightened intrinsic value than their lower karat equivalents.

Smelting is a procedure wherein a metal is extracted from its ore by heating beyond melting point, usually with the presence of oxidizing agents. Through smelting, pure metals such as silver ingots and gold ingots are produced.

Through the years our company has been able to witness firsthand the production process of fine gold and sterling silver jewelry since we have manufacturers who create sterling silver chain and gold chain from smelting to final polishing and packaging. We also have ones who start from mixing alloys.

We watched as 24K gold is distributed accordingly to produce the desired gold carat chain, mixed with its corresponding alloy and melted and gets poured into a casting machine, solidified, then formed into a rod. We observed as the gold rod is turned into a coil then into a wire, which is then distributed to different types of machines that will create the gold chain necklace we need. We were also given the opportunity to have a hands-on experience of soldering the clasps on to the gold chain necklace.

Each KoolJewelry gold chain necklace is placed inside a zip lock type bag, then packaged in a KoolJewlery branded black velvet pouch; ready for gift giving.

The price was very reasonable. I also like the fact that it is a long box chain so it looks a bit different from a traditional box chain. I got the long box chain in rose & yellow. I really like this design but at 0.7 mm it's way too thin. Very delicate. I don't think I'm going to keep them. They were a good price but I'd rather spend a bit more to get something a bit sturdier. I didn't think they could make them so frail. Or delicate. Can't really even see the design. That's why I got them. At that thinness it isn't possible to notice more than a shine here or there when light hits it. If it becomes available in 1.7-2.7 & the cost remains reasonable I will order it no hesitation! I think they offer quality at good prices.

This is a very lovely chain, seller was very prompt on delivery, packaged well, and the chain works perfect for what I needed. The only thing is that the clasp and ring closer are small and thin and I'm thinking of have a jeweler replace it with something bigger and stronger as I don't want to loose the diamond pendent I have on the chain. I still gave it 5stars though because it's very nice and the design is very pretty.

Gift recipient said chain looked weak. Clasp was tiny and extremely difficult to use unless you spend hours with a magnifier and get lucky. Jeweler sold me a slightly thicker chain and explained that I had bought an OPEN box chain. He sold me a CLOSED box chain which is way stronger and looks far more beautiful. Also the new chain has a lobster clasp which is easy to open and close. He gave me $15 for the Amazon chain; it's worth after weighing (maybe less but don't want to bother looking for receipt) New chain is 20" rather than 22. Cost about $165 minus amount given for old chain. Looks beautiful and he wears it with the pendant I gave years ago.MORAL: YA PAYS FOR WHAT YA GET'S---ESPECIALLY WITH GOLD!

I love this chain! It is very delicate, yet I have been wearing it 24/7 with no problem . It has never broken. I have a small cross on it, and even wear it to the beach. It's very nice for everyday, and is pretty. It's light and airy, and I hardly know I have it on. I live in Florida and don't like heavy jewelry hanging around my neck on a daily basis. This is just right.

this chain is very thin and I must be careful when wearing it. I do put something on it however it is light and does not pull on the chain. Also do not wear it every day----do not think it would last long if I did. Looks thicker in the picture. Only a careful adult should wear this chain
