Pure Gold, known as 24k gold, is entirely gold, 24 parts out of 24. Most jewelry however, is made from either 18k, 14k, or 10k gold. Smelting is a procedure wherein a metal is extracted from its ore by heating beyond melting point, usually with the presence of oxidizing agents. Through smelting, pure metals such as silver ingots and gold ingots are produced.
Through the years our company has been able to witness firsthand the production process of fine gold and sterling silver jewelry since we have manufacturers who create sterling silver chain and gold chain from smelting to final polishing and packaging. We also have ones who start from mixing alloys.
We watched as 24K gold is distributed accordingly to produce the desired gold carat chain, mixed with its corresponding alloy and melted and gets poured into a casting machine, solidified, then formed into a rod. We observed as the gold rod is turned into a coil then into a wire, which is then distributed to different types of machines that will create the gold chain necklace we need. We were also given the opportunity to have a hands-on experience of soldering the clasps on to the gold chain necklace.

This is a nice chain and it arrived prior to the estimated delivery date. It is much thinner and a bit longer than I thought it would be, but that is my fault for not researching it better. I will be ordering a thicker chain as the pendant I purchased the chain for is heavy and causes the chain to twist.

Item pictured does not look anything the picutre is protraying. Chain was extremely thin, and did not fell any weight when holding in palm of my hand. As soon as package arrived I opened immediatly & only once did i try to unclasped the chain to try on & only one attemp the clasp came off. i returned this item within 2 days with another item but have only received credit for the other item. If you are looking for a white gold chain - this is not what you want & save yourself the time you will spend getting required documents & scedule pick up & wait for credit. I thought wow great price - but forgot the saying "if it's too good to be true....

The only complaint the other reviews had was that the chain was too small. Fortunately for me that is exactly what I wanted. I needed a small, thin chain for a pendant with a very small bail. Plus, gold is over $1500 an ounce, so I think this is a good price. This chain is smooth and fluid. If you're looking for a fine white gold chain, then this will not disappoint. I am very happy with this purchase.

Again, I am a visual person. The picture on this chain is very inaccurate for its size. This is for my husband to keep a ring on a chain. It will do the job but its not as thick as I thought it was. I would of went for something thicker if I had known. Again, I think they should have as is pictures on the web.
