This was is my first mechanical watch since I was a child. That one, coincidentally, was schticky also. It had a mouse on the dial. These dials with "Mother Russia" themes I think are playing into the west's nostalgia of the Cold War. While that time was nerve racking and fear mongering, it also makes my generation think of orange shag rugs, mom in plaid polyester suits, nap time........ Childish simplicity. Vostok has grabbed me by my machos and nostalgos and given me a qwerky, robust, mostly reliable and affordable watch. Six and counting, actually. The other five are automatic mechanicals and 20 atms (200 meter water proof). I wish they had a Cosmonaut version with a little "Alien dude" floating on the dial. Now that would sell more than the 420 scuba dude. In any "collecters" groups, watchs being only one that I pay attention to, there are always going to be the snobbish guys that love to gripe about things they think are beneath them. These guys act snobbish and troll the products they have deemed unworth of their existence in their mothers basement apartment. Alone and bitter, they desperately need something to validate their pathetic life. A Rolex, being paid for in a payment plain resembling a car loan, being that validation. Though, mostly Vostok is loved in the watch community; even by these trolls that smell of Cheetos and weed. The Rolex looking so cool with their dirty sweat pants and flip-flops. I just read the other "review" which was given one star, solely based on their inability to figure out how to wind a mechanical watch; suggesting Vostok change an eighty year business plan and a thousand years of clock technology due to their ignorance. Shame on their father and grandfather. The crown wobbles a bit compared to Swiss, well, all other watches. This is actual a great idea in Movement safety. It takes a minute to adjust to the technique.......a minute. This ,and all Vostok watches are suggested to have a 10 year life before a full service. This means you do not throw a disposable watch in the trash after the battery dies. This watch will last the rest of your life, with only a visit to a watch tech ever 10 years. No need to add another lithium ion battery to the landfill. In short........ Well, that nuclear sub sailed..... You can not buy a better, cooler, antidote spawning watch for this price; and the price has drastically went up in the last five years. Though, to get the $39 version of this watch, you used to have to get a translator and order from Russia, wait 3 months for it to arrive while paying $29 in shipping. Now Amazon Prime drops at you door within a couple of days. Just get it. Now, I need to go upstairs and wash my sweatpants.

The watch is very handsome, but could not for the life of me figure out how to wind the dang thing. Yes it came with directions, I even looked on Youtube but am having no luck. They need to come up with a quartz driven setup.
