The square is thin and lays flat on the earlobe. Although the metal is thin, they don’t feel as though they’d bend easily. They don’t look cheap. My ears are very sensitive to most metals, but these don’t bother me at all, so I’m certain they really are gold. The backs, however, are not gold. So I switched them out for plastic backings, no bid deal.The only downside I see is the posts are really short, someone with a thick earlobe may not be able to wear these.
