The herringbone chain is short and I would wear it at its maximum extension. I do suggest that you find a piece of string or use a tape measure to check exactly how short a 13" chain is, particularly if you are not buying this for a child. The longer chain is a simple snake chain.You can wear each chain separately.At that price I should have realized that this is not going to be something that will retain its luster for long. Unfortunately, both chains are clearly stamped with S. Steel inscriptions and the snake chain already carries tarnished bits, looking like an old piece of forgotten jewelry - and indeed, I am going to forget about it. Interestingly, if you look carefully at the photos, you will see that the simple snake chain is not as silver and shiny as the herringbone chain. I do love herringbone chains, so I shall wear it until it starts to look like what it is: stainless steel (titanium does not tarnish). I did notice that I need to be careful when I pair the herringbone chain with my other chains as it becomes quite clear that it is not in the same class.I really feel that vendors should be honest about the composition and not lie, hence the 3 stars.
