Delicate and smooth, there's not a stray rough spot on the metal of these earrings. There is an imperfect symmetry in the shell, looking closely, one can tell there were odd-shaped cuts made to make several pieces of shell fit in the teardrop shape, chunky L's and awkward triangles. They did their best to make the patterns match across the pair, and natural variation is to be expected in a natural product, and really, it is a selling point for shell-based earrings!The rest of the earring is gold in color, probably plated electrically as the listing says, but with no blemishes to show the secret, that doesn't bother me at all.The back (see pictures) is a very unobtrusive black smooth plastic plate that the shell is probably glued to, this plastic being the main source of weight and stability. It is polished to a fine gloss, and surrounded by the smooth gold metal as well. There could have been much messier finishing at this price point and I'm very glad that more work was put into this, which means the earrings will last much longer, with this careful shaping and caging set-up.The only flaw I could see is a sort of rough grind to the shell surface, as tho it was cut somewhat off-center and not polished to a smooth surface. I'm not sure it's appropriate for me to try to sand them down myself, I've not worked with shell before. I'm thinking of sealing the surface against grime accumulation with a very thin glue? Brushed on with the flat of a toothpick should be unobtrusive enough and keep the rough machined edge from showing in a flash of light. But I'm not sure, so I haven't done that yet.I've always wanted abalone earrings, perhaps a whole collection of them, and these are a wonderful, inexpensive starter set for that goal!

I was very disappointed that one earring is definitely shades of green while the other one is shades of purple (see photo). I do realize that abalone is different shades, but the item description (with the photos) they were definitely similar in color and what I received are so different I doubt I would ever wear them!

These look great on and aren't heavy. But you do need to use the backs on these earrings as they tend to work their way off. This is a negative for me. I prefer dangling earrings not to have backs.

Elegant quality at a reasonable price point. Made well. I like the 'S' shaped fish hook with the small gold ball finishing touch in front.You can tell it is real abalone shell because of the shine and also because of the way it is mounted hollow in the back to show you it's genuine. However, now that I look at it more closely, it is not abalone shell showing thru the back like I expected. It is a black plastic. I am trying to determine what exactly it is made of and if I can't figure it out this close up to it and in the sunlight then I'd say it is beautiful and iridescent and looks good and that is mainly what matters to me.It has a good weight to it. Not too heavy, but not so light it will blow around like it's cheap. It will dangle with an elegant weight all day or all night. Good for work and happy hour after.Comes in an elegant green box that says Paris on it.Would make a thoughtful gift.

These come in a box really good for gifting. The earrings themselves are really lovely and light enough to wear all day without even feeling them. Some larger earrings pull my ears and hurt but these do not. The abalone shell finish is gorgeous and the gold trim around the outside is very pretty. They also come with the plastic “backs” that go on the end of the loops in your ear that will keep them from falling out of your ear while you’re wearing them. I like that, since I can’t be the only person who lost earrings during covid from taking masks on and off and when you’re done, you’ve lost one earring somewhere! This can’t happen with these and I think including the back like that was a very nice touch.

These earrings are so pretty. They look even nicer in person than pictured online. I got the abalone shellfish pair and they are beautiful. The color is very versatile and they match just about everything. They come in a pretty box if you'd like to give them as a gift. They are a great size and very comfortable to wear. They are not heavy at all and don't pull on my ears. These earrings can be worn casually or dressy. They don't turn my ears colors and they are great quality. They come with rubber backs to prevent them from falling out. There is a gold trim around the earrings that frame them beautifully. I absolutely love these earrings and I highly recommend them.

I love dangle earrings that have a triangle pendant as these do, and the Abalone material is special. They come in a nice gift box, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had rubber backers for the classic French Hooks. The abalone pendant is 1.25" x .5 ", not too large, not too small, and you could wear these with either formal or casual outfits. I tried them with a few different pieces and found they looked best with a dark green sleeveless one-shoulder dress.The wire is non-allergenic, and I have felt no discomfort or irritation after wearing them for two days.Overall - Beautiful earrings that can be matched to many different styles.

These earrings are a little bigger than I expected but still very pretty and I will enjoy wearing them. I didn't find their size noted on the website, but they are about 1.5" long and hang from the ears using fish hook-style findings. They are rather lightweight so it should be easy for those with sensitive earlobes to wear them.I would say these are probably appropriate for casual rather than formal occasions, but that depends on the type of outfit worn and probably a dozen other things. Let's just say these are versatile earrings and worth today's cost of $17.99. I hope this is helpful in some way!
